Guest guest
Jim, The following is from a medical website: The genes people inherit contribute to their susceptibility for developing an autoimmune disease. Certain diseases such as psoriasis can occur among several members of the same family. This suggests that a specific gene or set of genes predisposes a family member to psoriasis. In addition, individual family members with autoimmune diseases may inherit and share a set of abnormal genes, although they may develop different autoimmune diseases. For example, one first cousin may have lupus, another may have dermatomyositis, and one of their mothers may have rheumatoid arthritis. BTW, a daughter inherits genes from her father. Example: my father had paget's disease and my sister and I inherited it. Hope this helps. Nan I thought I would ask around on the thyroid boards to see what I could come up with. This is something that really bugs me. I eat a VERY healthy diet and I excercise I always have and I don't smoke drink or do drugs yet I still have antibodies...I just don't get it! Guest guest
Jim, I don't smoke, drink, or eat crap either and I still have this too. I suppose it's just our body chemistry and not something we " did " to bring this on ourselves. It's not like the smoker who gets lung cancer. I am doing some research into an autoimmune diet. A friend of mine has JRA -Juvenille Rhuematoid Arthritis - had it since she was 3 - she's now 38. She swears by it. And while it doesn't reverse her disease, it does keep it in check. She doesn't eat the same food for 5 days.. so only 1 x in five days will she eat Chicken. Sorry to digress.. I suppose it's just our lot in life. Some people get this, some get cancer, some get both. > > I thought I would ask around on the thyroid boards to see what I could > come up with. Guest guest
Thanks Nan The way I feel a lot of days I don't feel like I will live any where near that long!! I went to doctors for like 12 years before I got thyroid antibody tests run on me like 2 years ago and I thought that was really bad! Guest guest
Thanks That sounds like a rotation diet. I tried this before. My problem is I eat many times a day in smaller meals usually 5-9 times a day. It was a nightmare to prepare the food and try to figure out what to eat and get proper nutrition day to day for me. But you know what I do eat a lot of the same foods (although healthy) over and over but it's hard for me to break out of it!
