Guest guest
http://asap.org/2007/Speer_2007.html ASAP Family Loses Trusted Colleague and Friend, Dr. Marcy Speer We are deeply saddened to announce that Dr. Marcy Speer, ASAP Board member, Medical Advisory Board member, and Research Committee Chair, lost her battle with breast cancer on Saturday, August 4th. Dr. Speer was the Director of the Duke Center for Human Genetics, Chief of the Division of Medical Genetics, and an internationally recognized researcher in neural tube birth defects including Chiari malformations. She was one of the original Medical Advisory Board members and a strong supporter of ASAP's mission. Marcy will be remembered for many exceptional scientific contributions, but mostly for her caring and giving spirit. She is survived by her husband and two daughters. I was so sad to see that Dr. Marcy had passed away. I felt honored that I had an opportunity to meet her. I had talked with her over the years and lost touch after the conference I think in 03. I wondered why I did not hear from her last month when I e-mailed her.
