Guest guest Posted April 5, 2004 Report Share Posted April 5, 2004 Hi & Group, Just got back from the Rheumatologist to see what treatment she had in mind after having the biopsy done last month. She is putting me on prednesone and plaquill, that is if the eye doctor says it is ok to take the plaquill as I have other eye problems such as macular degeneration and glaucoma. Anyway, she said that sometimes this disease is a precursor for a malignancy and is sending me for a cat scan of the chest, abdomin and pelvis to be sure she is not missing anything. They will call me and let me know when they schedule the cat scans and I will keep you posted. She was amazed at how bad my leg has gotten in such a short time as it has really spread and inflammed the whole lower part of the leg and not just a few lumps as was there a few months ago. It's like they all meshed into one big area, swollen, red and looking like swiss cheese with all the dents. Just hope that this medication helps with the pain and swelling. I told her that I was back to wearing the TED stockings to help with the swelling and she said to continue wearing them as it will help. I continue to read all your posings and great ideas. To quote an American sit-com icon, Flo, " that burns my biscuts! " I am not sure why you were seeing a GP though. Try making an appointment with an asthma specialist. They asked if you had EVER taken any illegal drugs of any kind in their questionnaire. I put down that I had tried marijuana when I was about 17. Every visit after that, they would ask me repeatedly if I was still doing illegal drugs! I'm 39! I have terrible asthma, allergies & sinus infections! Why in the world would I be using a substance I had to smoke! I told them I had tried it when I was 17 for goodness' sake! I certainly learned my lesson and no matter how they phrase the question, my answer is no! I mean, really! I was a teenager in the 80's... there weren't many of us who didn't at least try marijuana.
