Welcome, Leanne! This is a great place to talk about taebo and find

fitness buddies. Do they actually call your class a " taebo " class?

I'm just curious because classes are only offered here in Houston,

Texas, and Los Angeles, California. Most of us here do taebo using

video tapes.

Welcome Leanne

Which video's do you have available to you? Then we can give you some

guidance..

TaeBo has only been released over here in the UK this year, and comprises

the original 4 studio 4 pack set (I got mine form QVC the tv shopping

channel),

and we have also had 2 others released just called TaeBo and TeaBo2 that are

available in stores, but we call the UKBL1 & UKBL2 because they are Basic

Live tapes and don't seem to be the same as any available in the US, (though

they say they have previously been released in the US on the pack!) these

are all PAL format.

Of course they've got loads available in the US and they're in NTSC

format....

If someone had said last year that I'd be working out at home I'd've thought

they were mad, but I do, I can do it whenever I want (6AM, 6PM MIDNIGHT

ETC...) not when classes are on and best of all I've made so many new

friends through this egroup, than I've EVER mad in all the classes & gyms

I've attended in my life!

Hope you enjoy being with the group

we know taebo. I wish there were classes offered where I am

(Washington, D.C.), but since there not any, I do taebo by video.

Some people here have been to Blank's studio in Los Angeles

(actually Sherman Oaks) and taken classes there and some others, like

me, have been on a taebo live taping for pay per view TV or for

videotapes.

Leanne,

Holy Heck!!!! That's a lot of money! That's like triple what it

costs here in the states :( But, I'm glad you are getting the

tapes...you will love them! You'll be outshining everyone in your

classes at the gym in no time! If you got the live 4-pack, I'm in

the basic and advanced tapes that come with that....so let me know

when you get them so we can workout together! I have a 1 1/2 year

old little girl, Skylar and I'm from Nashville, TN! I can't wait to

hear your reaction to the tapes and how they compare to your classes

at the gym!

Leanne

Is that total 180 dollars (Australian I presume) for the 4 pack?

If so that's horrendous, more than double the £30.00 (GB pounds) I paid for

the set from QVC!!

As you might have guessed I'm from England. If yours are PAL format video's

I'll volunteer to help get you copies of the 2 others available over here if

they're a cheaper for you, if you want to email me privately using

yorkshire_lass at bigfoot.com

Jill

who thinks someone's making killing with these videos internationally, and

even more so cos the quality ain't that brilliant of the original 4 pack

that just a mass copy of the NTSC version without being re-mastered!

I think they are worth it, though. I am from Washington, D.C., and have been

doing taebo tapes since April 1999. I also take cardio kickboxing classes.

With all my taebo experience, I am steps ahead of everyone in the classes. I

highly recommend doing the tapes and the classes. The tapes teach you the form

and the classes motivate you. You can read more about each of us and see some

I have 9 month old daughter and a wonderful fiancee. I love walking, eating

Welcome Terri and family!

I've been a member of this group for several months. My Grandma has

LBD. She has went through several different phases. Right now she

is doing very well. We have a family member that now sits w/ her

during the day, 5 days a week, and the my Grandfather is still able

to help her in the evening. I live only a mile from them. I am over

there almost every day.

At the moment she is doing better than she was. I know that this is

just a reprieve but I am enjoying having more of her here..so to

speak. She isn't on any meds for the LBD because of her liver

complications. Her liver makes it tricky to treat her w/ medications

sometimes.

Hope you feel comfortable here and post often. I learn so much from

the posts here. And it sure does help me to know that there are

other people experiencing the same things that I am.

Again, welcome to the group.

Hello, All. I stumbled across this site a few nights ago and am so glad to

have done so. I visit other caregiving and LBD sites, but this is so

specific to personal experiences for LBD caregivers. Have already referred

others to it. I read all of the entries so have a pretty good idea what you

all are going through.

Condolences to Nigel. The loss of a parent is indeed difficult. May you all

rest peacefully.

My husband was diagnosed nearly 3 years ago with LBD. I can see symptoms as

far back as at least 6 yrs ago, although at that time I only thought of them

as eccentricities. He says he was aware that something was awry not long

before he retired in 1994. He has always been an easy person to get along

with, and so far so good. It doesn't seem his condition is as progressed as

that of many of your LOs. His is a " classic " case per the neurologist, and

per the description at the Lewy Net site.

He was put on 10mg Mellaril when the emergency rule outs were done and left

on it even after diagnosis. By then it had been increased slightly to help

" us " sleep. Those 10mg immediately controlled his hallucinations and helped

with the spatial disorientation. Following dx he was started on 5mg Aricept.

After only 2 months neurologist #2 doubled it without seeing my husband and

hubby had severe side effects. (He should have allowed 3 months for it to

kick in.) We eventually wound up back with the diagnosing Cognitive

Neurologist at s Hopkins, who has worked wonders at slowing the

progression of the disease, even calling my husband his " poster boy for what

can go right. "

Along the way it was recognized that neuroleptics are contraindicated for LBD

and he was taken off Mellaril. The rigidity immediately improved and the

falls that had begun stopped. The Sinemet was tweaked repeatedly to ensure

it was not adding to the recently worsening confusion. Aricept was moved

from night to AM, then 1/2 tab added at dinner time, and now up to a full tab

at dinner time. It is somewhat unconventional, but since we are charting

unknown symptoms management territory, I was game to try whatever the

neurologist had in mind. I am extremely pleased with the results!

The fluctuations are still there, but he is back to where he was several

years ago, with 3-4 day cycles instead of sometimes as many as several per

day. Confusion is still there but much improved, and he can reason himself

through most of it. Hallucinations are trying to return, but only at bedtime

and in his peripheral vision. He reports that he is able to " think " them

away, a concept I heard from a very sharp lady who I hope will be joining

this site. He says his only real problem is when those very vivid night

dreams make him SURE furniture has been moved or duplicated. So he wanders

about the house looking for the things in his dream, sees the reality, and

reassured goes back to bed and sleeps. I think this is a consequence of the

increased Aricept.

So this is the down-and-dirty on one of the newest additions to your Board.

I look forward to getting better " acquainted " with y'all.

Dear Cheryl,

I was very interested in your message. I have posted about my Mom

who was diagnosed two years ago. She sees both a neurologist and a

geriatric psychiatrist at Hopkins.

Unfortunately, her condition, regardless of different treatments

tried, has continued to decline rapidly. Would you mind telling me

the name of your neurologist, so that my Mom's neurologist can confer

with him? My mother is seeing Reich at Hopkins. If you're

not comfortable doing this, I will certainly understand.

I'm glad to hear of your husband's positive results. If I can

provide any information to you, please don't hesitate to ask.

Thank you,

Terri

Welcome !

You are right we DO have similar problems!

Teenagers, the toughest age for them and for us! I don't have a teenage

daughter yet, but Lord help me I have three to go! I did help to raise my

brother, and he had the hardest time...so my heart goes out to you : )

I recently found a yahoo group that helps me declutter, and I have been so

pleased with my progress that it excited the girls and they wanted me to

help them declutter their clothes and toys. The decluttering and

affirmations from this group has given me more control of our finances, but

I still have the stress from it : )

Mother-in-laws can be difficult. I told mine off during our first year of

our 12 year marriage and she rarely comes to our house now. We now agree to

disagree on several things, and I constantly hear how I caused the latest

" rift " in the family. I try to keep my comments to myself, to maintain my

marriage : (

I am a SAHM too! I do medical transcription from home now, but it took a

while to find that. Affirmations help there too. I had the confidence to

speak out, and a friend led me to the job.

Hot there? Geez, I'll switch places with you! We are cold and wet. If the

temperature drops anymore overnight, we will have snow again.

Welcome to the group, I know that you will feel at home here!

Hi Selena,

I'm glad the affirmations helped.

Wouldn't hurt to have a daily reminder sent in to the group to

send in five affirmations IF anyone would like.

You would think that having you home and seeing the fruit of it

he would be thrilled. My husband would come home to supper on

the table, all the house in order, the kids clean and happy (very well

taken care of 'if I do say so myself, LOL') and the wood stove a

cookin. He had absolutely nothing to do when he got home except

eat, read the paper and be with the boys. Most husbands come home

to 'housework'!

Well you're certainly right you can't change him but you can live the

way you would like and he will catch on. :o)

Blessings to you too and thanks,

Susie

Susie,

Some days it would seem like your affirmations were meant just for me.

Especially with everything going on right now. And living on one income

isn't hard, it's convincing my husband that we can make it that's the

problem. Let's just say he isn't the affirmation type and I've tried and

I've learned that I can't make him do what he doesn't want to do. And maybe

one day he'll turn around, but it definitely won't be anytime soon.

Blessings,

Selena
