Guest guest
Ok. Why I was asking is... I am attending an all India level opthalmology conference in Kochi in February. The have mentioned 8 credits but for Kerala medical council. So I was wondering if there are specific conferences you need to attend in the state of Maharashtra to gain points for mmc. My state is also applying for credit points for state level conferences. Guest guest
I forgot to add, the credit points are only for registering at the conference and not attending it. So if you collect your kit in the morning, sign (very important) and then leave the conference to go sight seeing or for a booze party, you still get the points. Good point na? Guest guest
Sorry, missed out a part of the latter document: MAHARASHTRA MEDICAL COUNCIL, MUMBAI CONTINUING MEDICAL EDUCATION (CME) Medical Science is dynamic and there is no end of learning for a doctor. This is in essence the concept of continuing medical education (CME). Tremendous advances are taking place in the field of medical science, which are continuously changing the concept, approach to management and the outcome of several diseases. The rapid pace of these advances make it mandatory for doctors to keep themselves updated so that they may apply this information to their patient’s well being and improve the quality of care rendered to them. A doctor must never be satisfied with his/her current level of proficiency and must always strive to enhance his/her competence and knowledge by keeping abreast with the latest developments in the field. The Central Government of India has notified the new Ethics regulations in the Gazette of India on April 16, 2002, provides that “ A Physician should participate in professional meetings as part of Continuing Medical Education Programs, for at least 30 hours every five years, organized by reputed professional academic bodies or any other authorized organisations. Since the above provisions have become mandatory, it has become necessary for the Maharashtra Medical Council to consider the whole matter and issue necessary guidelines in regard to its implementation. and to accredit identified organisations so that the certificates of attendance at CME issued by them can be taken as valid. Various organisations which are already undertaking CME programs through workshops, seminars or short term CME courses, Conference etc. Will be accredited by Maharashtra Medical Council.2 ORGANISATIONS/ ACADEMIC ACTIVITIES TO BE ACCREDITED FOR C.M.E.
