Guest guest Posted January 21, 2009 Report Share Posted January 21, 2009 The sleepiness could be related...when it was officially decided that I should be on a long acting controller medication I had an episode where I was sleeping better than 14 hours a day for 3 days straight. I went to the doctor and after listening to my chest and pulmonary function test, they gave me a neb treatment to see what the difference would be...and it was pretty clear. The thing I remember most is that I was no longer sleepy...it was like I had a complete night of sleep in that 10 minutes. Can you get a second peak flow meter for school and keep it there so that when Hannah is having to use her inhaler more than once a day they can do the flows right then and there before she uses the inhaler? Im thinking that depending on where you live if she uses the inhaler before you get there to do the peak flow it might skew the results...and if she really does need her inhaler and has to wait, it might make a bad situation worse. Also, is Hannah maybe using her inhaler more often than she needs to due to an anxiety that she IS going to have an attack? You know, maybe she has had an attack in certain situations and when she gets into those situations now she is afraid its going to happen again and then feels the need to use the inhaler?? Ive heard that can be common in kids when they are learning to judge for themselves whether they truly need the inhaler or not...it might be worthwhile to get the second peak flow meter anyway so that she can see where she is at when she feels the need for the inhaler.
