Guest guest
I've got some of my freedom back! For the last year I have been reduced to using an electric mobility scooter to get around -- I can only walk 20 or 30 yards on my own. But a couple of weeks I got fed up with the scooter and sold it back to the dealer because it kept breaking down. I had so much anxiety about getting stranded in it that it just wasn't worth it. I found a scooter online that has no motor -- you just push it(voyager seated scooter by forward mobility). It's designed for people recovering from leg or foot injuries. You sit on the scooter seat and push with your healthy leg. Well, I don't have a leg injury, but when I'm walking, carrying my weight vertically, my heart can't keep up with the exertion because of the ME/CFS. But I find when I'm sitting and just pushing, my heart can keep up. Today I pushed myself around an entire mall and felt completely liberated. I could go everywhere healthy people could go! The whole scooter is only 20 pounds and I can easily carry it up escalators. I bought two shirts and stopped for coffee and thought, " this is what normal life is like! " I just had to share this small victory with some people who would understand! If you want to see what it looks like you can check out the promo video they have on youtube.
