Guest guest
Anton army crawled at five months, crawled belly up at seven months, pulled up to standing at nine months. He's fourteen, almost fifteen months and not walking yet, although he does cruise along the furniture. I anticipate it will be a few more months until he walks. So, I would like to know when your child sat up and when they crawled. Then, I will also ask a group of parents who have children with Ds. When comparing the 2 groups, it may be a very helpful indicator for the researchers I am working with and it may help me make a strong point if I am able to speak at the NDSC conference this summer. Guest guest
Gross motor was not Katy's strong suit. She started talking almost as early as my son, but was way behind when it came to the gross motor. I don't remember exactly when she started sitting up - but think it was around a year - crawling - 18 months and she didn't start walking until 2 years 10 months - I remember it was on Father's Day in June and she turned 3 in August. When she started walking she just stood straight up and took off. Usually they start standing and kind of fall and learn balance, but she did both together. I think she was really ready to walk but just didn't have the confidence. She had a lot of hip rotation which delayed her walking. Guest guest
Thanks Angel According to studies that I have read, the commando crawl is considered actual crawling. There are many ways of crawling and although most babies do the traditional " knees and hands " crawling, if they are moving you can consider it a crawl. Garrett did the commando crawl and Tim did the " bear " crawl. (he wouldn't put his knees down and crawled on his hands and feet with his rear in the air. lol Neither ever did the traditional crawl. Guest guest
I am an early interventionist to a child with MDS and a child with DS. The child with DS sat without support at 8 months and crawled at 10 months. The child with MDS sat without support at 4 months and crawled at 7 months. Guest guest
Michele Thank you for this information! It is VERY helpful. I know that research has shown that children with MDS crawl and sit earlier and the information I am getting is proving that to be true. I am hoping that this information will be helpful in making a proper diagnosis of MDS especially in small countries who can not do blood and skin tests. Guest guest
Aidan sat up by 6 months, crawled by 8/9 and walked unassisted by 16-17 months.
