Guest guest
Watch out for foods containing simple carbs and / or with a high glycemic index. Chronic Hepatitis can lead to T2 Diabetes - it does for a lot of us and did for me. If you need to supplement your diet with a nutritional drink or bar, try a made-for-diabetics product like Glucerna. And always have your thyroid checked if you feel depressed. Thyroid problems are another little gift from Chronic Hep... Wicked / Since 1949 the one true original real Robin A. Guest guest
Hello Did your diabetes develop during the treatment and did it continue after the treatment? Second, does GLUCERNA have a neagtive effect on the liver and on the treatment? Can it be used together with the treatment? Thanks ------------------------------------------------------------ Yrd. Guest guest
That's as may be, but some of us are dealing with the second-class medical care that comes with Medicaid. It took me years to get tested for my genotype [dx'd 97, typed this year], and I still don't know which variant of 2 it is. And as a diabetic, I can tell you that my A1c tests are well within the normal range. To those who are receiving state-of-the-art medical care, good for you. I hope that you take full advantage of your opportunities. Those who are uninsured, underinsured or dealing with a state system which takes months to approve anything [i have five abscessed teeth dx'd last year for which treatment still has not been approved] have different issues and must take different steps to protect and help themselves. Guest guest
I have never had the high-tech drug tx. I refused and will continue to refuse it. My enzymes have never been elevated and my last biopsy results were stage 1. My other symptoms are severe enough without the exacerbation caused by the tx and I have two disabled children. I cannot afford to be any more incapacitated than I already am. My diabetes, my hypothyroidism and my hep were all dx'd at the same time. I have evidently had the hep since my first marriage [divorced in 71]. The ex-husband who gave me this little gift that keeps on giving died of liver cancer three months ago. Glucerna is like many other nutritional supplement products. The difference is that the carbs in Glucerna have a lower glycemic index and lesser impact on serum glucose. I have no idea about its effects on the liver or on tx. I do know that it was recommended my current Dr [a double diplomate in internal med and infectious disease].
