Chelsea, I've found Melatonin to help me sleep, as well as Valerian- a herb you

can take in a capsule or, you can make a tea of it.

Same thing with the herb White Lady Slipper. I've also found that Calcium with

magnesiusm helps some. Hops tea helps too though its also slightly diuretic.

I like the Valerian but, I did find too that after taking it for awhile, it

didn't work well anymore. Best thing is to switch off and on with various types

of supplements.

My own problem isnt insomnia per se nowadays though I have it.

But I don't sleep at night, I sleep in the daytime. Sometimes even prescription

medicine doesnt help, but if it does,I'm still not awake and alert during the

day.

What's *your* insomnia all about?

Good luck with finding something to help you sleep!

Hello Insomnia, my old friend

I need advice for my insomnia, I'm not ready to take a prescription medicine.

Does anyone have an all natural approach? I've already set up my bedroom to be

more sleep-friendly.

Thanks!

You might want to have a sleep study done to get to the root cause. Eliminating

caffeine also help. Hope you get rested.

I have heard good things about Melatonin, although it didn't seem to help for me

personally. Definitely, NO caffeine after noon helps. I try to maintain a

similar routine every night ie: settle in after dinner, no big plans or

activities after 7pm or so. Just something relaxing, like watching tv,

listening to music or embroidering in my case. If I'm sleepy by 7:20? I go to

bed. Whenever it hits me,I just go!

I know all the experts say no tv in the bedroom, but without that tv sound, I

have a VERY difficult time falling asleep. Just put something on that 'doesn't

matter'. Personally, no news stations or History Channel, something that peaks

my interest and I really want to see, no movies that I HAVEN'T seen before.

Sitcoms, fav old movies where I know how they end. I set the timer and that

helps tremendously.

It's not guaranteed, but it helps me. As for rx's? I have only tried Lunesta

and would not recommend it.

Good luck!
