Of course my stored emails aren't coming up with what I need now !!! There

is a prescription for (I think) some sort of mouthwash that helps with the

sores that come as a side effect of HCV treatment. Any recommendations ????

Thanks.

Most doctors, or dentists can write an Rx for " Magic Mouthwash " !

Any pharmacist should be able to tell you what's in it as well! One

of the major things heppers seem to get that cause the sores and/or

the cottage chees throat is Thrush! It is an Rx medicine, although

some have done well with over-the-counter Biotene!

Magic mouthwash is different depending on the doctor, but normally

is made up of equal parts Mylanta, Diphenhydramine, and Viscous Lidocaine.

Sometimes they add another ingredient, or change one. But, the Lidocaine

is consistent since it is the local anesthetic.

They use Nystatin suspension to treat thrush. Either as a swish and swallow,

or swish and spit. They can also use Mycelex Trouches (Clotrimazole) which

are lozenges.
