Guest guest
Hi Everyone! I am writing to see if any of you have ever used an modified ABA program for any of your children? Our daughter is very speech delayed. Has words and can tell us what things are and is saying more words together, but really needs work on functional/conversational speech. Her frustration level is getting very bad for her and it breaks my heart. She was in a lanuage and speech preschool this past year until April that was just NOT a match. I know she learned valuable things and now we know more of what she needs and what to ask. It is so frustrating though....One program that we checked out and has space in the fall, is ABA based. It's focus is on positive reinforment to get the child to attend to tasks and make transitions within the classroom. They do alot of individual work and well as group and do not pressure the child to over frustrate. It becomes more of that the child wants to join and get involved. It sounded just what our daughter needs. It is hard for her to sit and attend to things of not her choosing. I could read books and point out things with her for an hour....but some other things that she is not interested in and she needs to do, well it is a challenge. Any input, thoughts? Thanks!
