I have been following the labeling discussion with great interest and

I'm looking forward to the response from the CTFA to Maurice's

questions. But, now I have a question of my own. I work in a library

that has the 2nd edition of the CTFA Dictionary, am I correct in

understanding from the various discussions that it would be possible to

use the names listed in this version to label my products? I believe

this is what I gleaned from the posted information, but I'd like to be

really sure before I proceed. I know the later editions are under

review and probably will eventually be approved, but as I have this

edition readily available it would be the most efficient to use at this

time if possible.

While this may not be a favorite topic of discussion among the more

learned of the group (I'm sure it gets boring) I appreciate the time

you've spent covering this vital area of cosmetics for those of us who

need the help.

Thank you all for sharing your expertise, you give generously and wisely.

I haven't heard anything from the CTFA. Until that hapens, I would not use the

Latin names, unless they are in parenthesis.

You always could. If this book is in " circulation " , I'd put the book into

" reference only DO NOT REMOVE " . That's a collector's item.

AFAIK, the botanical names found in the 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th and 6th edition names

are acceptable for labeling products sold in the US.

It may be boring to some, but it's important for everyone selling cosmetics in

the US.
