Guest guest
How long has the diarrhea been going on? And does the milk come in plastic or glass? Containers supplied by consumer or farmer? Those are a few preliminary questions! Sara :-) diarrhea I have an new person in my little milk co-op I've started here. She has a 5 year old that is autistic and a 2 yr old that seems fine so far. She persued the raw milk issue for her 5 year old, but it seems it is her 2 year old who is having problems with the raw milk I have been giving her. I think she's a little un easy about the whole raw milk issue, but wants depirately to do the right thing for her children. She has now stopped buying milk from milk because of the diarrhea problem that her 2 year old is having. Guest guest
She only got one gallon from me to try it out, and yes it did come in plastic – reused milk jugs. From what I understand, the diarrhea only occurred while drinking the raw milk. She gave it to him, he got diarrhea, took him off for a couple days and tried again. Same thing happened. Guest guest
I would dilute the milk and see if that helps. rhoda diarrhea I have an new person in my little milk co-op I've started here. Guest guest
, Going suddenly on raw dairy products when the intestinal flora is so used to processing dead stuff can create problems. Gas is one complaint I've heard of before. If it was me, I would work my way up slowly..one cup of milk a day, then 2, then three... I see raw milk as really powerful, it can take a while for the body to adjust to the benefits of such. Does that make sense to you? The mother hasn't been giving the boy any other new foods or substances? Raw milk was the only change in the diet? I would really look at the plastic re-used thing very carefully. There were discussions on this board in the past about milk smelling or tasting off/bad, feeling off after drinking milk supplied in re-used plastic containers. I would demand either glass containers or virgin plastic containers. Again- just my opinion! ;-) Sara diarrhea I have an new person in my little milk co-op I've started here. Guest guest
-- Diarrhea that does not clear up within 2-3 days means Something is not sitting right within the girl's body. You could be looking at an allergic reaction, or it could be that she needs to be drinking the RawMilk alone, not as a beverage with food. This always works if Gas is the problem. Or, as Rhoda pointed out, you can drink it with meals, but diluted with filtered water at a 2 milk : 1 water ratio. For most people, it's not even an issue. A synergistic thing could be happening with some additive in the foods creating something nasty in the Gut. With Live Enzymes, you culture for Good or for Bad... Anja just spoke about Kefir, and that is what the Mothers of Autistic Children do and get phenomenal results. Colostrum is often part of their mix. (McAfee site) This article was written by two very informed mothers who have so many "initialed" sources in here, you may get tired of them. http://www.redflagsweekly.com/medical_review/2003_mar13.html Even with the proper culturing, the Allergies these kids can have is beyond rational understanding. Sometimes they have the RawMilk energetically tested for an allergic response and treat for it, or sometimes just by culturing it for a longer length of time with Kefir Grains they are then able to derive the benefits of an ideal food. See: The Food Allergy Cure paper 2003, by Ellen Cutler M.D. (You must point to what people with "The Initials" behind their name are saying about this. We're not just making this stuff up all on our own.) I think it odd that the "autistic" child is okay with it, but that the 2 yr. old is not. Wonder if the diet is full of carbs and sugar..... or if there's been a recent course of antibiotics, or a vaccine program given..... maybe a Soy allergy, a Grain allergy... who knows. --Terry I have an new person in my little milk co-op I've started here. Guest guest
, I would tell her that autistic children frequently have an intolerance to dairy, pasteurized and raw, but especially pasteurized. They can have what's called " leaky gut syndrome " in which the lining of the intestine is inflamed and porous because of a lack of healthy bacteria allowing for food proteins to get through into the bloodstream causing a whole host of problems including food allergies and very much exacerbating the autism. She needs to establish a good stand of bacteria in this child's gut. Now in a normal individual, this could be accomplished through the use of kefir and yogurts. However, in this situation, I would recommend coconut kefir. Direct this worried mom to www.bodyecologydiet.com. Have her look at the Autism & ADD section. Then have her look at the coconut kefir section. If she doesn't have a source for fresh young green coconuts, there is a source I know of that sells it in juice box form called www.wildernessfamilynaturals.com. And although I normally recommend using real kefir grains, I think it's a tricky proposition to use them with coconut kefir. So I would recommend using the powdered starter culture for beginners. But DO NOT get the kefir starter culture at wildernessfamilynaturals. I would get it at www.urbanhomemaker.com. It is much cheaper there and just as good. Just type in " kefir " in the search engine and it will take you to it. What this will do is introduce a good flora of bacteria into this child's gut, and help to start the healing process. At bodyecologydiet she can learn all about it. It will introduce the " dairy-loving " bacteria into her system without the dairy. Then later when she can tolerate it (it varies from person to person--6 mos to a year), raw milk can be re-introduced. This is how I would proceed. wrote: >I have an new person in my little milk co-op I've started here. She >has a 5 year old that is autistic and a 2 yr old that seems fine so >far. Guest guest
Okay I didn't read the post correctly! Sorry. I see it is the 5 year old autistic child who is fine, but not the 2 year old who is not autistic. But actually, my advice is still the same. I would introduce dairy-loving bacteria into the child's system through non-dairy means, such as coconut kefir. THEN I would move to raw dairy. Because if this child is allergic to even raw milk, then he has a dairy intolerance altogether. One exception to that is that he might do better on goat's milk and I would try that as well. Guest guest
1 Gallon of milk lasting a couple of days (trying 1 day, then " a couple of days " off and then trying out 1 other day, that makes a week), for a family with 2 children! What did they DO with the milk, watch it or drink it? Anyways, that tells us that the kids haven't been getting much milk. *I* think that woman is just scared of raw milk. And that even when only one of her children had the diarrhea, while both had the milk. The easiest thing would be to continue raw milk for the kid that didn't have the problems. And what kind of diarrhea are we talking about, just loose stool or you know diarrhea when you're really sick and it's just see-through liquid? Loose stool, it happens. I mean everyone has it some time, hey, most people would say, it's better than being constipated (as long as you don't have it for days that it makes you sore). With a 2 years old, you can watch the diet better than with older kids that visit friends and eat at the school cafeteria or can buy something themselves. But there can still be family members around that give the kids something to keep them quiet or make them happy. Everyone wants the baby to love him and smile at him. Guest guest
It was Amy, not me But IF the live bacteria in raw milk are the problem, kefir will cause more of a problem I'd guess. If she's scared of raw milk, how scared will she be of real kefir grains? I mean " rotting the milk on purpose " ? Got the same opinion about diet, that would tell us ALOT about the child. But it seems to me that she was scared of raw milk and was just looking for something bad happening to their children. And when you look about something to complain about, you'll find it.
