Hi ,

Thanks for the welcome! :)

It doesn't surprise me that several others would have RA as well, as I've been reading that autoimmune diseases tend to cluster, and in families they can cluster as different diseases, but all of them having to do with autoimmunity. :) or really that should be :(

<<How are you feeling now that you don't take that or the Prednisone?>>

I'm feeling fine without it, thankfully. :) I have learned to listen well to my body. I used to push on no matter what when I had a little energy, usually to my detriment. So, I'd feel a surge of energy and decide I needed to do EVERYTHING I hadn't been up to doing earlier -- then I'd work and work until I burned myself out and ultimately, after ignoring the little signals my body would send, end up with an RA flare-up that would keep me off my feet for a few days. Now, when I feel that tiny little twinge, or the barely noticeable "strange" feeling, I know to slow down or stop ... OR ELSE. hahaha

<<One doctor (holistic) said that EBV (Epstein-Barr Virus, right?) can cause Hashimotos. And Candida, which mentioned before.>>

Right... very new to me, though shouldn't surprise me, I guess. :) There are so many possibilities in my case that it's hard to decide which one is most likely. Though, the symptoms appearing so close to different drug therapies leads me to believe it's most likely those drugs. Of course, they might have only made the symptoms more pronounced...

<<My former Western medicine GP who missed my thyroid diagnosis until I was in the hospital told me that EBV is quote "crap." In other words, it doesn't exist, it's never been proven. >>

Yep, I've heard both sides of that argument, too. One doctor says it does exist, it's very real, and can be debilitating - often mimicing other diseases (RA and MS, for example). Another doctor will say it's all hogwash and there is no such thing. These same doctors also say there is no such thing as Chronic Fatigue Syndrome and Fibromyalgia. And, of course, when you ask how you might heal yourself from feeling so terrible if there really IS no problem, they insist you see a therapist and want to prescribe antidepressants. What a riot!

What's funny though, is that if you test for the EBV - amazingly it shows up! If it doesn't exist, how can you get lab results for it? Weird, eh?

Thanks again for the warm welcome! I'm thrilled to have discovered this list and hope I can eventually contribute to someone else's wellbeing, too! :)
