Hi Terry,

Yes, research shows that more of the medicine is deposited into your lungs when one uses an aero chamber. It allows the med to sort of linger in the tube, giving you time to inhale it all (or hopefully close to "all") into your lungs. I don't remember the percentages, but most people get much more of a complete dose when using the chamber. I for one carry it with me at all times and actually, I've never used my inhaler without the chamber. When I was first diagnosed with asthma, I had my MD write me a script for one that day. Many MD's prescribe the chambers for children, but I think they work great for adults too. When we're in the midst of an attack, it is difficult to breathe deeply, so the chamber can be a big help!

I have problems with elevation too, though I am much more affected with my ears/sinuses primarily....and then with my breathing if the ears/sinuses don't clear quickly enough (which thankfully they usally do).

Good luck tomorrow!!! Stay strong!

I learned a little something over the weekend that I wanted to share withthose who use the chamber with your inhalers. We were on a steam train on Saturday in an open car as we were taken up tothe top of a mountain (awesome trip) anyways I didn't take the chamber withme just the inhaler, and I had to use the inhaler. I found that I didn't getthe same amount of relief as quick as when I use the chamber. So if you usethe chamber, keep one with you at all time to prevent this from happening toyou! I did not give the chamber the credit it deserves until this weekend.Have a great Monday. I'll be on late in the day as I have that medicalprocedure at the hospital at 8am. I hate this test and the anxiety that comewith it!Have any of you had issues with changing in elevations? We did this a lotover the past 3 days and on Saturday we went high than when I was drivingand I had so much pressure in my

chest, yet once we leveled out it wasfine, and it didn't do it as we descended back down the mountain, I did findthat while on top the mountain I couldn't walk too far without being out ofbreath, wondering if it was due to the air at that elevation. I ended uplaying on the mountain ENJOYING the beautiful sky and the breeze blowingthrough trees and made the sound of waves coming up on a beach! Oh it waswonderful.Terry I know God will not give me anything I can't handle. I was in the mountains over the weekend as well. I find I can breathe much better and my sinus is much more clear. I wonder why you would have more difficulty and I feel so much better. Good luck with your procedure. I have had it done twice. Certainly, I can think of better things to do, but at the same time, I have had worse. :o)

Allergies to the vegetation in the mountains? or to emissions from

the train? cooler mountain air? less oxygen at higher altitudes?

There's a lot of possibilities.

That what I thought too Queezles, I have allergies to many trees, and I was

so out of routine that I hadn't realized until we got on the train that I'd

forgotten to use my nasonex, I have NO DOUBT that I inhaled some of the

airborne stuff from the train as when I blew my nose it had black stuff in

it. I did enjoy the trip regardless. It makes me so uncomfortable when we

use our inhalers to give us relief and people look at us like we're doing

illegal drugs, here in MD people don't even take a 2nd look yet on the trip

I had to use it at a rest stop with the chamber and I wish you could have

seen the looks I got. I wanted to say, " It's all legal " LOL!

Oh I have to agree with you 100%, it had been a while since I'd NOT used the chamber with the inhalers, so Saturday was the first time in a long time I had to do it the old fashioned way, I found I wasn't positioning it correctly yet with the chamber you have no worries about that, and I do feel I get MORE into my lungs with the chamber than without. My ears popped so many times on the way to my friends house that it gave me a migraine, Thank heavens I had my son with me to know which med I was asking for or I would have had to stop on the interstate to find it and take it! Out side off all that, it was an awesome trip and I can't wait to do it again!

I have two chambers, one for home and one in my purse. I can't seem to

get any inhaler in unless using one.

Yes, high altitudes bother me also! When we lived in Colorado in 1971

I had alot of problems!

Me too. I think that sometimes we are just very self aware, but I

have found that I hate the portable nebulizer more. I always try to

It annoys me when people stare like I'm using a crack pipe or something I

mean really! LoL. I always try to go off somewhere where no one can see me

and use it, but on the train there was NO where to go. Oh well! I gotta do

what I have to do to breath!
