Yellow Jersy Milk: could it be beta-carotene or related carotenoids?

The thought occured to me that perhaps the yellow color of Jersey

milk, and especially Jersey cream, might be due to it being extra

rich in beta-carotene (or other carotenoids). As I undertand it,

green growing things are very rich in this fat-soluable(?) form

of pro-vitamin A...

A quick search turned up this reference to how dietary beta-carotene

in nursing mothers soon shows up in breast milk:

For what it's worth.
