I don't think it is in Kirkmans formula anymore ... Mainly cause half the kids did so horribly regress. The other half did well. So unless you know for sure which half your kid is I wouldn't risk it. It can build up to toxic levels if it is already too high... The way you check it is a test at Great Smokies , but forget the specific name of the test... Guest guest
I want to start chelation therapy on my son soon and would like feedback as to what supplements to use: These are the things I believe Andy recommends: (I bought his book but haven't had time to read it!) My son is about 40 lbs. ==================== -Vitamin C - (esterified form or buffered)1000-3000 mg/day divided up 4 times a day -Vitamin E (500 IU/day) -Vitamin A (HOW MUCH??) (Vitamin Shoppe) -B Complex - 4 x/day (12.5-25 mg 4 x day) -Magnesium - 40-50 mg 4x/day -Milk Thistle (100-200 mg) ( 3 or 4 x day) -Cromium (HOW MUCH?) -Molybdenum (HOW MUCH?) -Mixed carotenes (vitamin shoppe) -Flax oil (Vitamin Shoppe) Can you also use flax seed? -Selenium - 50 mcg as selenomethionine -zinc (27 mg/day per Jim Laidler's note or even 40 mg?) The 'position paper' doctors recommends these things: (in addition to some of the things Andy recommends): -Melatonin (I'm NOT COMFORTABLE GIVING THIS) because I've ready different studies and my son doesn't have sleep problems -Glutathione (2 x day (100 mg) (Kirkman's sells this) -N-Acetyl cysteine 2 x day 100 mg Thanks, Donna
Guest guest
Andy, a simple list would be so helpful to me also .. I'm not left-hemisphere balanced and have massive trouble with subjects such as math and science, so reading the book is very difficult and I'll need to rely heavily on you when we begin with Lacey in 4 weeks (when school ends). She is also 40 pounds at 7 years old, so perhaps you can hit two birds with one stone ... I'm sure we also have a problem with cadmium since both parents were smoking in the house previously - can you suggest something for this? I think, by the way, molybdenum only comes in 125 mg ... and couldn't I substitute wheat since Lacey is not gluten sensitive/intolerant or has an allergy to wheat? I think wheat consumption pretty much takes care of molybdenum if you are looking at the RDA. I hope it isn't Cd since all I know of to do is eat antioxidants indefinitely - I don't know anything that takes it out. > I think, by the way, molybdenum only comes in 125 mg ... and couldn't I > substitute wheat since Lacey is not gluten sensitive/intolerant or has an > allergy to wheat? Guest guest
Regarding Andy's supplementation and the " position " doctors' supplementation schedule: I was looking for help in an administration plan for supplements as I have MANY to give my child based on all the problems with his system and to assist chelation. I am trying to discern which are chelators and which are replenishers...if that is the case and which important supplements I am missing. Supplements include: Taken Days On and Off chelation 35 pound child Vitamin C 750 mg am & pm NAC 100 mg am & pm Taurine 500 mg am & pm Glycine 500 mg am & pm Melatonin 2 mg (@ bedtime) CLO 1 tsp am & pm Vitamin E 100 IU am & pm Folic Acid 1/4 tsp (400 mcg/Kirkman's) am & pm MSM 1/4 tsp am & pm CoQ10 25 mg am & pm Coenzyme B Complex (Kirkman's) 1 daily Transfer Factor 200 mg 3x day Nystatin 1 tsp 3x day Ginko Biloba 75 mg am & pm Milk Thistle 100 mg am & pm L-Glutamine 1 capsule am & pm EnZymAid 1 capsule am & pm Acetyl L-Carnitine 125 mg am & pm Magnesium 180 mg am & pm Taken Days Off DMSA Glutathione 100 mg am & pm Zinc 40 mg = 1 tsp 2x day Magnesium Malate 400 mg am & pm Citramin II 3 capsules w/b-fast SNT 1 1/2 tsp Buffered Vitamin C 750 mg am & pm DMG 250 = 2 tsp am & pm Calcium 1/2 tsp am & pm All mineral preps DMSA (every 4 hrs) 50 mg Low dose for first round...then to 150 mg ALA (after 2 months) 50 mg My appreciation for any help! I heard changes to the position doctors' protocol are being announced in Atlanta at the May DAN Conference, as per Dr. Bradstreet in Chicago suburbs at last weekend's Care Conference. Just a head's up.. tmbdmb wrote: > I want to start chelation therapy on my son soon and would like > feedback > as to what supplements to use: These are the things I believe Andy > recommends: (I bought his book but haven't had time to read it!) > > My son is about 40 lbs. > ==================== > -Vitamin C - (esterified form or buffered)1000-3000 mg/day divided up > 4 times a day > -Vitamin E (500 IU/day) > -Vitamin A (HOW MUCH??)
