Guest guest
I found this site that explains it as best they can for now. http://www.ahealthyme.com/topic/asthmagerd Cheryl Burton ncicheryl@... People With GERD More Likely to Develop Asthma I read this article on Yahoo health page. Almost everyone I know of has Acid Reflux or Gert along with their Asthma. I just don't understand why.... I just thought it was the medicine that caused you to have acid reflux or Gerd. What do you all think? At least we are getting some info on Asthma. Guest guest
I've had Gerd for many years and developed asthma all the sudden on Christmas eve a few years ago. So I think my asthma can be triggered by it, as I found out today. Boy do I ever learn alot from this group! Terry I know God will not give me anything I can't handle. I just wish that He didn't trust me so much. ~Mother Teddy Bear's Early Learning ProgramEstablished August of 1992 From: asthma [mailto:asthma ] On Behalf Of walkinglou2002Sent: Friday, July 25, 2008 6:36 PMTo: asthma Subject: People With GERD More Likely to Develop Asthma I read this article on Yahoo health page. Guest guest
We are feeling pretty sure this is DH's problem. He was fine until a year ago he began experiencing chest pain. Fearful it was heart trouble he got a full workup, including an angiogram. When that all checked out ok he moved on to the gastro doc and got scoped from both ends. Turned out he has had reflux so bad he actually has esophagus chances {barrettes esophagus}. He was positive for H Pylori and went through the antibiotics, etc. Then all of a sudden he ends up in the hospital in January for pneumonia. He has since been hospitalized 7 times, 3 in ICU. He is very ill. Two bronchoscopies and now on home oxygen at night. They have nearly ruled out everything else. Even COPD does not come on this hard and fast {at least he stopped his 30 year smoking habit...thank God} While he is on daily Nexium it still does not seem to be helping as much and he is only getting worse. I'm about to go postal on his doc because she is supposed to get him a referral to UC San Francisco. I originally joined this group because my son and daughter had uncontrolled asthma. I have asthma as well but do quite well. Daughters asthma is in remission, no meds. We finally figured a combo for son, who is a quadriplegic, of Claritin D and Nexium and he is doing great. I think GERD plays a role in a lot more asthma cases than people realize. It's sure worth checking out before too much damage is done. Now if we could get DH well we'd all be pretty happy. Guest guest
I've had asthma since I was 2, am 54 now, and have never had GERD. The connection between the two is not universal. > > Subject: People With GERD More Likely to Develop Asthma > To: asthma > Date: Friday, July 25, 2008, 6:36 PM > > > > > > > > > > > > I read this article on Yahoo health page. Guest guest
Hi Genevive, Similar situation - I have had asthma since about 15, and I am 40 now, no GERD. And, yes, I am thankful. Guest guest
I wonder why some people get it and some don't. Part of me makes me wonder if some of the meds could be contributing to GERD? Just a thought. Guest guest
It's really not horrible to have it, the asthma is more annoying than the GERD Terry I know God will not give me anything I can't handle. Guest guest
Heck yeah some meds contribute to it! Steroids in particular can cause terrible reflux! > > From: > walkinglou2002 <walkinglou2002@ yahoo.com> > Subject: > People With GERD More Likely to Develop Asthma > To: > asthmayahoogroups (DOT) com > Date: Friday, July 25, 2008, 6:36 > PM > > > > > I read this article on Yahoo health page.
