Guest guest
Oh surprise surprise…one of the stupidest new energy policies out there…promote the tradeoff of major toxicity for energy savings…these bulbs are also extremely unhealthful (type of light)…just wait for 10 years or so, when enough of these dimwit lighbulbs make it into the landfills and thence into the water…and watch the level of toxic poisoning diseases just climbs and climbs…it just horrifies me. Guest guest
I don't like the level of light of the new bulbs (they are not as bright and set off my fibro problems) plus we've had several burn out when they are supposed to last years and yes we installed them without touching them etc as instructed....michelle,canada. > Oh surprise surprise…one of the stupidest new energy policies out > there…promote the tradeoff of major toxicity for energy savings…these > bulbs > are also extremely unhealthful (type of light)…just wait for 10 years or
Guest guest
The light is too yellow for me - really bothers me - didn't know you were not supposed to touch them = you are talking about the new florescent ones aren't you Maddox
Guest guest
, Fluorescent lighting including the compact type have negative effects on people with headaches and autoimmune disorders like Lupus. I also suspect they will be dangerous to those susceptible to skin cancer. That is reason enough not to use them. I am grateful they do not buzz as loud as standard fluorescent bulbs. The buzzing agitates me on top of the headache they cause. They are also more damaging to documents, paintings and other light sensitive materials because of the broader spectrum of light they use. Any questions ask, I'm not shy. Take care of you. Big gentle huggles, Di in Feasterville-Trevose, PA ) dimntd on AIM, IRC, ICQ & Yahoo! Guest guest
Yes they are what i'm talking about ,your supposed to use a cloth or gloves when putting them in because skin oils can shorten their life span. The level of light really bothers me,some fancy restaurants have the same low lighting that just makes me feel physically sick.I hope they come out with some better options ,plus they will have to make them cheaper if they want everyone to use them. michelle jadaa, canada. {The light is too yellow for me - really bothers me - didn't know you were not supposed to touch them = you are talking about the new florescent ones aren't you} Maddox
Guest guest
Hi …there is something really unhealthful about fluorescent light…can’t remember what (jump in here any experts!), but I know if I am in a place with fluorescent lighting and no windows (natural light) I become quickly very ill, and this is a common reaction amongst the ME, CFS, Fibro folk. But it’s not that you shouldn’t touch them, it’s if they break, they have mercury in them, a HUGE toxin, risking personal toxic exposure, and when they all hit the landfills and break, there will be a huge rise in mercury toxicity overall. Plus, they may not take as much juice to run, but they throw off huge EMR (electromagnetic radiation, to which some are also sensitive). So, NOT a good tradeoff at all for energy savings. I’m sure LED technology could be easily adapted for lighting…very non toxic and low energy usage I think. Aylwin xox
Guest guest
The mercury in the bulbs goes to vapor instantly when the bulbs are broken. The old type fixtures with the long tubes that are still in use have a balast that gets hot and off gasses. The compact coil type do hot have this problem. Flourescents are the bulbs of choice right now. Even with the miniscule amount of plasma they contribute the smallest carbon foot print because of their effiency. I just replaced my yard light.....it was ten years old and one of those high pressure sodium that requires a transformer. I repalced it with one of those dual head lamps the you typicall screw two incandescent floodlamps into. Instead of using the incandescents I used two 23 watt compacts......wow they putout more light then the old lamp so much so that I had to pull one bulb to not keep the neighbors awake. Guest guest
Hi all, cent bulbs deplete the body of Vitamin A~ not a good thing! Vitamin A serves many useful purposes, helps ward off infections, is good for the eyes, and over all skin. I think Vita ~ light is great. I just ordered one. A friend of mine has one,and it is great. Is good for S.A.D. Back to the mercury in the bulbs? TOXIC TOXIC TOXIC!!! Which leads me to mercury amalgam. If you have those kinds of fillings in your mouth (If you have fillings at all!) Get em out! It leaches into the body, causing havoc everywhere! My dentist is going to start replacing mine next month,(Good thing I only have two fillings!!!) I hope some of this has been helpful? Blessings~ nne.
Guest guest
Hi nne, well, in my researches I have found that it’s not so simple…the greatest risk of Mercury toxicity is when you get them removed, more than just having them! This seems to be the newer information. So, I would be very careful in ensuring that your dentist is up on the latest in procedures to prevent this from happening. The mercury extraction has to done with exquisite care and specific protocols. (It really is great that you only have 2!) And, what is the replacement substance? PLASTIC! Also verry toxic…unless you can afford Gold that is! I did get some new, plastic fillings recently, but I worked with my NAET person/acupuncturist and the dentist to ensure minimum toxic reaction.
