Guest guest
, most meds don't work well for me either. And most that say " few side effects " ..*do*, for me anyway. Would you tell me what coccydynia is (if you do not mind?)Modanifil/provigil drained my bank account too! While I did have some positive results, I remember Ritalin for many years ago, and I know how I respond to it. It was not bad, and it *is* a lot cheaper, because it is an old medication, so there are generic versions I'm sure. But how would I have that prescribed for me? Isn't that drug for hyperactivity in children and attention deficit in adults? I'm almost positive I am attention deficit, and have been so for many years. But will MDs prescribe it w/o tons of tests?Thank you in advance. A, Subject: Re: Nuvigil Day 3 Date: Tuesday, June 28, 2011, 10:59 AM I was on Nuvigil for 6 months and did not notice any benefit whatsoever although I did not notice any physical side affects. The one side affect that I did notice though was that it rapidly drained my bank account! I have switched over to Ritalin which does make a difference and even though for whatever reason my insurance refuses to cover it it is still far far cheaper. I hope that it does help you though - I know that CFS just drains one in every way imaginable. My main issues with meds is that they seemingly do not work like they are supposed to with me just like yourself. I have the usual FM, CFS with Coccydynia for a nice kicker..... Sleep? Whats that? ;o) Best of luck with you......
Guest guest
I have never taken Nuvigil, but I started Ritalin about a year ago and I HAVE noticed that it helps with my clarity, concentration and alertness. I only take 5mg in morning and another 5mg at lunch time. I haven't noted any negative side effects, except sometimes, after I take the noon pill, I feel quite 'buzzed' ...an inner energy, for maybe an hour or two. But I will take that any day over the pure exhaustion and brain fog of my old days. Hope you all fine relief!!!! Jane
Guest guest
Coccydynia is where ones pain originates from ones tailbone. The sensation is like someone having a knife stuck in it and twisting it. Gabapentin was the only thing that controls it. One also gets the sensation that there is a coconut size object inside you. Ritalin (the generic is meth-something)seems to be able to give me energy to help with the fatigue and helps with the fog. Just ask your Doc for it as I think that it is used for off label uses.. > > , most meds don't work well for me either. And most that say " few side effects " ..*do*, for me anyway. Guest guest
What kind of doctor prescribes the ritalin? Anyone tried concerta or focaline? Sent from my Verizon Wireless BlackBerry
Guest guest
, thanks for replying. I will try--I'll ask my doctor but I have a feeling he won't give me ritalin. He won't give me Soma ( a muscle relaxer) either, because apparently it is addictive too, and the kids use it to get high. It helps me with pain more than zanaflex or flexeril--and all the other muscle relaxers I've been prescribed. But no doctor down here will prescribe the Soma. So, I suspect Ritalin would be out too. Florida was at one time known as a drug use/drug prescribing state-now they've gone the opposite route and one can't be prescribed *anything* without a big deal. Even Ultram (tramadol) is considered a semi-controlled substance.:-/ Thank you for explaining your (very painful) condition coccycdynia to me. I believe I know someone else with it, though I do not have it myself. I do know about the problems with the kids swiping the drugs as I had a daughter that was taking my meds without my knowledge. I honestly thought that I was taking too many and didn't remember. I ended up putting her in rehab and all of my drugs under combo lock. You have no idea what I went through with my doctors over that - They probably thought that I was some drug fiend for a while there. Irregardless if one needs something that works like Soma and it is refused then your doctor is not looking out for your best interests only theirs. , thanks for replying. > Even Ultram (tramadol) is considered a semi-controlled substance.:-/ > Thank you for explaining your (very painful) condition coccycdynia to me. > I believe I know someone else with it, though I do not have it myself. > >
Guest guest
I agree with you , and wish you and I could change the attitudes and laws, but another issue is that I see a pain mgt doctor every month and they test patient's urine every couple months. If I deviate from the prescribed meds at all, I can be out of a doctor--and this is the *only* one in FLA. who is semi-generous with the pain meds. The others would not even give me what this one will. My regular doctor agreed to give me Soma, but until I have some tests i need as well as try Lunesta or Ambien to sleep he won't give it to me.. Yes, I know they're not for the same purpose but that's what he said. And he agreed to it for only 1 a night.(3 or 4 a day is acceptable according to the PDR) Thats how things are now. I'm not originally from FLA, I'm a New Yorker, but even *there* it was touch and go! Many doctors have been dragged across the coals for prescribing what the DEA considers over-prescribing, so they are uptight about the laws. When it comes to losing their licenses, yes--they will toss me out rather than themselves. I'm still going to try to talk to my family doctor about whatever I want/need but it's a whole long process and very annoying. I had a very good pain mgt doctor in NYC, I was referred by my rheumatologist. He was great, and gave me plenty of pain meds but even he would not give me Soma, because it's considered addictive.  I didn't come here to Florida because I really wanted to--there was another bigger reason we came here, but so far as doctors go-- it was pretty bad even in NYC, let alone here. Thanks for letting me know your expereinces though, I appreciate that.
