Marla, did you buy this extract or did you make it yourself? I could make a

difference.

I checked the newest edition of the CTFA dictionary and found this information.

Citrus Grandis (Grapefruit) Seed Extract is an extract of the seeds of the

grapefruit, Citrus

grandis.

The CTFA dictionary does not list a source or vendor for " Citrus Grandis

(Grapefruit) Seed Extract " but it does list several vendors for mixtures of

" Citrus Grandis (Grapefruit)

Seed Extract " and other things.

Actiphyte of Grapefruit Seed GL50 (Active Organics) and AEC Grapefruit Seed

Extract (G2) (A & E Connock) have the following INCI name:

Glycerin (and) Citrus Grandis (Grapefruit) Seed Extract

While I was searching the CTFA dictionary, I also found a listing for " Citrus

Grandis (Grapefruit) Fruit Extract " which is an extract of the fruit of the

grapefruit, Citrus grandis.

According to the dictionary, the INCI name for Citricidal is " Citrus Grandis

(Grapefruit) Fruit Extract " . I always thought that Citricidal was GSE.

That is what Citricidal says they sell and in the concentrations

they sell I have to believe it. Another case of Editor error?

Hi Maurice,

I am no expert on these things for sure. I got my information from an INCI

listing of cosmetic ingredients off the soapnuts website I think it was.

<snip>According to the dictionary, the INCI name for Citricidal is " Citrus

Grandis (Grapefruit) Fruit Extract " . I always thought that Citricidal was

GSE.<snip>

I think there are two brands of GSE. Nutriteam is a source of information

on it. I think that Citricidal is the brand that claims to be 60%

grapefruit seed extract in a 40% glycerin base, while the other

brand/manufacturer is something like 33% grapefruit seed extract in a

glycerin base. From what I have read, the Citricidal brand is the one that

" supposedly " acts as a preservative in cosmetics, while the other brand/type

is the one for internal use.

Would love it if anyone with more info or links on GSE research could send

them this way. I am somewhat of a research " freak " and love lots of

information. I do have a listing of all the companies that have tested GSE,

but haven't made the time to check into any of their data.

Margaret, I'd take the time to read the abstracts in the

files/archives on the results of GSE testing - it's quite interesting

and informative, and shouldn't take long at all!
