Guest guest
Hi Debbie, THANK YOU for posting your picture! You're very pretty. My sister has FM and takes Oxycontin along with Neurontin - which appears to help her circulation. Like you, she seemed to have two (separate) thermostats that regulated the temps of her upper and lower torso. Ask your doctor for samples of Neurontin. Just for giggles, I purchased a visco-elastic "memory foam" mattress topper for her. To our surprise, this has helped tremendously! The cost was about $40 for King Size. May be worthwhile for you to investigate. Before closing, Provigil has been used in Europe for years - although fairly new to the US. If your insurance will not help out with the cost, check out Costco. Their prices for meds are very reasonable, and most locations will allow you to purchase your RX's from them - even if you are *not* a member. Failing this, see about joining a credit union (or some organization) that offers "Script Save", "Com Care" or "Well Com" as a free benefit with membership. These (free) little RX cards have saved me 50% off many brand-name meds in the past. Best Wishes To You, Genie PS: We long suspected my sis had Hashimoto's too. This past Friday, the diagnosis was confirmed. Now SIX of us have this beast. (Grrrr....) Debbie wrote: Sorry..back to my appt with my neuro. Actually I see him every 4 months so that I can keep getting my oxycontin for this Fibromyalgia I've had for mmmmm 11 years being officially dx'd. He gave me a script for something called Provigil. It's prescribed for narcolepsy patients but he says he uses it off label for alot of his FM patients which has helped some with the fatigue problem associated with FM. Had a feeling I'd better call to see if this Rx would be covered before I took it to the pharmacy since the doc said most of his patients he's prescribed it for have found that insurance doesn't want to cover it so why would I think mine would be different? Am waiting for prior authorization now and more then likely my insurance isn't going to want to cover it either but miracles do happen right? Another thing that's for sure is that the Remeron and Xanax at night give me 8 hours of good sleep every night so I'm very bewildered as to which disease is keeping my energy level down to zilch, zero, nada, nothing! P.S. I uploaded a pic of me.
