Andy,

I am new to this list, I just want to ask you a few questions?

How long must one chelate before obvious benefits will be seen. We have been

chelating for about 6 months now, and in his urine we have been seening

elevated levels of tin and lead and slightly elevated levels of aluminum.

Very little mercury.

We chelate every 8 hrs, 3 days a week, fri, sat, sun. We are also giving the

ALA with the chement. I give him many supplements on the off days. I really

don't seen any benefits of it, do you think I will, and how long will it take.

Thanks , by the way my son is 14.

Andy,

I want to throw in a comment about this thread. Our son is 20, and we have

been chelating about 8 months now. We have been testing every so often just

to see what is coming out. We are still not getting much mercury, but Dr.

Amy says this pattern holds true for all of her patients in this age

range--also Craig has had a lot of other toxins to pull down, and that is

what we are accomplishing, albeit rather slowly. (At least it seems to me.)

He says that all kinds of things are happening in his body--things that I am

unable to see and feel at this point. He tells me to keep on chelating him,

because pretty soon we will be able to see them. Things like joint pain

gone, increased energy, vision changing, hearing a little different etc.

Every one of these might not be things I wouldn't recognize if he were

noncommunicative. I might be tempted to quit. But since he can use a

computer board to type out his responses, he is making me aware of them, and

begging to keep going.

I guess what I'm trying to say is, maybe for our older kids who were exposed

as little children, there are a lot of toxins built up in their system that

need to come down before they hit the mercury. And please don't stop unless

you know for sure there are no (possibly hidden) changes going on. I look

at his test results and think--he's got to feel better with that many toxins

leaving his system each time. So, we keep going.

We were using a hopewell pharmacy that compounded the dmsa and we gave him a

teaspoon each dose. We have just started using the chement, only b/c it was

cheaper I did not have to lay out the money insurance paid right away.Could

there be a difference in the 2 meds, and maybe the chement is better?

Its not the drug (chemet, DMSA ect is all the same) but the

dosing schedule!!! When he says to dose every 3-4 hours, it has

to do with the drug half life ect... don't really understand it all

myself but have seen it happen, (I'm really ashamed to tell

this....) when we missed a dose one afternoon, and I thought to

myself oh well Andy will never know! ;-) And went ahead and

gave her the dose 3 hours late... she started toe walking (which

she has never done) and acting bazare! Needless to say, We

stopped that round and started the next week!!!!

>>thanks Laurie,

Since Oct. we have chelating every weekend. Every 8 hrs. around the clock

on 3days , Fri.Sat.Sun.

We did give the compounded dmsa for all this time, and this last 2 dose

weekends we used chement in the capsule. I put it in a tablespoon with

applesauce.. My son takes it with no problem. I do let him see what is in

it.

I think I am dosing correctly as per my doc,., but no real benefits as of yet.

But I will contine to chelate until his urine sample is normal.

, maybe you should talk to Allan about dosing every 4 hours. Do you think is making progress with it?

Hi christine, no I really don't see any progress at all. How about Sal do you

see progress now, at the 4hours dose, more so than the 8hr dose?

Dear Angie,

" every 8 hours " is absolutely not what Andy considers a safe protocol,

and it is not what he is suggesting.

I know you just posted something (which I didn't really understand) that

Andy answered and he didn't metion this.

But, PLEASE PLEASE believe me: he does NOT think every 8 hours is okay.

He means exactly the opposite: that you can do that (every 8 hours) till

the cows come home and it may not help at all --- and, if so, that does

not mean that every 4 hours will not help.

(Okay everybody--- I know some of your kids have done okay on every 8

hours--- I'm not invalidating that--- I'm trying to get a point across here.)

I'll say this one more way before I shut up (for the moment): Andy does

not agree with your doctor about what is a good/effective/safe way to

chelate mercury.

Andy recommends EVERY 4 HOURS for DMSA INCLUDING DURING THE NIGHT.

ALA is every 3 hours, including during the night.

Feel free to ask Andy to confirm if you think I got this wrong. There

are literally hundreds of posts on this subject in the archives, as

well as a couple of polls on the subject. The " how often to dose " issue

is one of the " hottest " topics on this list. If there is ANYTHING that

Andy has a crystal-clear recommendation on, this is it. (And Andy is

not known for his lack of opinions.)

all best,

Moria
