Armour is stable. Years ago there were issues about stability BUT the Synthroid scandal had the same issue very recently - the doses were NOT consistent. These days Armour is very stable and tested for consistency. It's derived from desiccated pig thyroid, not cow.

You can read all about it at Shomons site at www.about.com - search thyroid.

Re: Armour- bad effects?

- Hi everyone, I do not take armour either. My endo does not likeit because he said you have a hard time controling the amountand regulating it in the individuals system. He told me thatthe animal that is derived from is cows. I am on synthroid and cytomel. My endo feels thathe can better treat me with these two drugs. I am not sure about any side effects, though. We did not discuss that.I had asked about Armour a few months ago. I hope everyone is well and on the northeast coast, wejust got slammed with another snow storm. So if you are on theeast coast, hope you are staying warm. I only wish it was good for EVERYONE then none of us would be in this pickle. It didn't work for you, but it's worked for many others - you just have to find the right combination for you.

Re: Armour- bad effects?

Okay, if Armour is so good for us, then why did I have SUCH a adverse reaction? Was it just the wrong time( 1st tri pregnancy)? Is it possible my body was just trying to rid itself of the synthetic? I'm not sure. All I know is I feel better after being off of it for one week than I EVER felt while on it. I think after my pregnancy, I will try it or Cytomel just to see if I have the same reaction.
