Hmmm... Although IBM's " Deep Blue " can soundly trounce

human chess grand masters and " "

" Jeopardy " grand champs; nether system has any comprehension to

what it is doing. If you watch the logic tree used to arrive at

it's questions it was clear the program really had no understanding of

the meaning of the information to which it was responding. Exactly

the problem with any " natural language " man/machine

interface the computer has no frame of reference. And the attempts

to let systems generate a frame of reference give rise to absurd

assumptions about the world...
