Obama does seem pretty desperate to kick off a war with Iran. I think it will backfire on him though. While many in his party might go wild in support, oil prices will shoot up if Iran closes the straits. I also don't think the US military is in any shape to fight Iran, especially not with all those troops trapped in Afghanistan.

Maybe in DC they think that the domestic crisis that will be kicked off by such an attack will be just what they need to seize more power and control over the economy and the people.

We have a bunch of ground troops in afghanistan but we have plenty of naval

assets ready and willing to tangle with Iran. They could do some damage to us

but military vs military we'd win. It is what to do with the country afterwards

and a new insurgency that would stump us. Personally for oil I'd like to see us

take over venezuela.
