Guest guest
One thing for sure is the BFL diet is not going to hurt your blood pressure. A healthy eating plan can only help it. If your blood pressure readings are bothering, see a doctor before your physical. The machines may be off or you may need some medication to help control your blood pressureit. I know people who have very healthy eating and exercise lifestyles, but he still have high blood pressure. They take medication to control it. Although I don't know you situation, I would think it odd to get turned down for a teaching job in Alaska because you have high blood pressure. As long as your are able to control it through diet and/or medication it should not be a problem. In fact, my father in law has high blood pressure and was in the US Army Special Forces Group with it.. They didn't seem to have a problem with him taking blood pressure medication. I think the things he did were a tad more stressfull on the body than taking a teaching job in Alaska. I sincerly hope you dream job in Alaska comes true. I lived there for 5 years. Although I'm working overseas for a US company at the moment, I am still a resident of Alaska and I will eventually move back to Alaska. I lived in Fairbanks, which is a bit cold in the winter for some people's tastes, but the beauty and the people made up for it. Do you happen to know where you will be teaching yet? Good luck on your blood pressure, BFL, and Alaska. Lenny > Anyways, I was wondering if any of you noticed > a change in your blood pressure as you went through BFL? Guest guest
This reminds me of the time I checked my blood pressure at Wal-Mart and it was high. It is never high but usually low. I went to the Hospital Clinic at the mall and they said they get people coming in all of the time to get their blood pressure checked after using one in Wal-Mart or K-Mart. People are freaking out after getting tested on these machines. The machines are often not calibrated correctly so don't put too much faith in them. That is what I was told. My blood pressure was fine when the nurse took it for me. Andyman > Hi folks. I am back and I am sorry about how I acted last time. I have > decided to give BFL a good try. Guest guest
The Red Cross or most blood banks will take your blood pressure for free. I wouldn't put much stock in a BP machine in a store. Guest guest
Blood pressure cuffs (sphygmomamoters) may give inaccurate readings if you're not using the appropriate size cuff. I'm a big guy (300 lbs., 17 1/2 inch upper arms) and they have to use the oversized cuff at the doctor's office. The automatic machines that you'll find in stores are a one-size-fits-most (but not me) cuff.
