Guest guest
Are you talking about " charlie horse " cramps -- those really painful ones? I think I saw my dance teacher tell a student to flex her foot and push against something while she massaged the cramped area. An " old wives' tale " says to lick salt out of the palm of your hand... I swear this worked for me once. Could be an electrolyte imbalance causing the cramping (slightly low sodium, potassium) which you can have w/Hashi's. I just have a problem with sciatica, the muscle kind on my right side that has become chronic. I do yoga for it but I don't think it's going away.. don't think it's related to thyroid though but who knows. ~ > > Hey all, > > I was just wondering if anyone else here gets really bad muscle > cramps in their legs at night and if there is anything that can be > done to make them stop or at least lessen them? Guest guest
I get joint and muscle aches in my legs but I have always thought it was residual damage from when I had Lyme's Disease 12 years ago. It mostly only bothers me when it's raining out, I heard arthritis is affected by barometric pressure. I suggest talking to yr doctor about it. My doctor sent me for bloodwork to check my levels of potassium among other things. I think the test was called a metabolic panel. Hope that helps! ~jayna > > > > Hey all, > > > > I was just wondering if anyone else here gets really bad muscle > > cramps in their legs at night and if there is anything that can be > > done to make them stop or at least lessen them? Guest guest
It usually an indication of a calcium/magnesium deficiency. Try taking a calcium and magnesium supplement - buy a quality one. Most people find relief in just a few days. -- In Thyroiditis , " Crista " <twistedfairy@h...> wrote: > > Hey all, > > I was just wondering if anyone else here gets really bad muscle > cramps in their legs at night and if there is anything that can be > done to make them stop or at least lessen them? Just watch out because most of them are horse pills! My thyroid and I defintely don't like swallowing them. You can buy Viacitv chews but they are pretty expensive. Thanks also for the post on dangers of swallowing Levoxyl (speaking of swallowing pills)... I noticed that I really have to wet my throat with water before attempting to take it or it does have a tendency to get stuck.. I usually take it with a whole glass of water. ~

There's also liquid calcium/magnesium - which I use. I have thyroid nodules and large pills get stuck in my throat and can cause enormous pain. So I'm careful about what I injest!
