Guest guest
- I take it when I have a cold or if I'm feeling tired. I like it. I don't think there's anything harmful in it for us-but I'm no expert. I started craving it when I read your post, so I'm having one now! On a side note-I'm getting yet another doctor. I think I posted before that my insurance is changing (effective tomorrow). I have to go to Kaiser, but I have high hopes. A friend of mine, her sister is a Nurse Practioner there & I can assign her as my primary doctor! So, I'm hoping that I can get a little more " personal " care from her since I know her. Wish me luck! -Miaja** > I was wondering if anyone here takes these or knows > if they contain anything that could be harmful to us... > I know we're not supposed to have echinacea. Guest guest
Thanks, Miaja! Some claim they help boost energy levels even when you're not sick. Good luck to you and your family with the new doc -- that sounds like great news! ~ > > I was wondering if anyone here takes these or knows > > if they contain anything that could be harmful to us... > > I know we're not supposed to have echinacea. Guest guest
If I'm not the you meant, then I apologize ahead of time, lol! Anyway, are you saying that this has Echinacea in it, or not? I don't see it on the list you provide, but you did say something about it. Echinacea (I read) is supposed to aggravate these antibodies of ours, supposedly. I just can't take it because it is a member of the ragweed family, and I fast found this out during the first week that I took it a few yrs ago. It couldn't have been the power of suggestion because I had no idea at that time. All I knew was that all during that week, and for 3 or 4 days after I quit it, my eyes got a BAD case of allergic conjunctivitis, also wheezing, etc... When I finally figured out what was doing it, I stopped it, and the symptoms left me. The vitamins in this formula, for us thyroid patients, could probably use some more turbo charging on the B5, B6, and the B12, unless you're already taking extra amts of these supps. It could probably use a little more zince, to boot (at least for us). One thing I'm a little worried about in there though, is that aspartic acid. Is that the same stuff that aspartame is made of---the enzyme or whatever it's called? Just asking, because I keep reading that aspartame blocks our thyroid hormones, and not only that, it can do some other serious stuff to our bodies. I really don't know whether that's the same stuff or not though. Other than that, it looks good in the nutrient department. Does it also taste good. I know I'm a brat when it comes to liquid vitamin drinks, but I'll never make it, if it doesn't taste good. Emergen-C ? > I was wondering if anyone here takes these or knows > if they contain anything that could be harmful to us... > I know we're not supposed to have echinacea. Guest guest
Hi, -- any is welcome to give input, but you are the I meant. ;-) No, this does not have echinacea in it... I was just giving that as an example why I won't take just anything for colds. I have never tasted it -- my friend says " well, you won't be serving it out of a punchbowl at your next party " lol... but she said it's not bad. Thanks for the input on the vitamins.. I didn't know that about aspartame where thyroid is concerned. > If I'm not the you meant, then I apologize ahead of time, lol! Anyway, > are you saying that this has Echinacea in it, or not? Guest guest
and - I like the taste of it. I'm not one to like many things either. So, I think anyone would be able to handle it. It's just orange and fizzy. Miaja** I have > never tasted it -- my friend says " well, you won't be serving > it out of a punchbowl at your next party " lol... but she said it's > not bad. Guest guest
You know, what's weird, Jan is that I had a very bad thyroid day two days ago when I took two of those Emergen-Cs... heart was beating sooo slow when I was trying to sleep, argh I hate that!! I can't imagine what else could have affected me that strongly, I did eat some goitrogenic foods but I don't think a peach and some strawberries would make me feel that bad??? Anyway, I'll probably stay away from these. > That is the C Shomom takes, so it is ok. > > > Jan
Guest guest
That is funny cause the goitrogenic foods are not supposed to act that fast... I would also blame the Emergen-C. Maybe there is something there you react to. Guest guest
You're probably right, the goitrogenic foods wouldn't act that fast... some people say T4 isn't supposed to act fast either but I always feel a change the SAME day now if I have too much or too little T4. I'm actually not convinced now it was the Emergen-C... I think I needed to split my Armour dosage, I was only taking it in the morning. I feel better now that I take half in the morning, half in the late afternoon/evening. Must be that fast acting T3. > > >You know, what's weird, Jan is that I had a very bad thyroid day > >two days ago when I took two of those Emergen-Cs... heart > >was beating sooo slow when I was trying to sleep, argh I hate > >that!!
