Guest guest
Some 25,000 people per year die from superbugs in Europe every year. That's something the main stream media isn't reporting on. Many die in the US as well but again its covered up. Its also interesting that these bugs are spreading beyond the hospitals and into the general population, something that has been known about some strains in the US for years now. The problem now is that a kind of DNA called a plasmid is being exchanged by the bacteria from kind to kind. A plasmid is a free-floating loop of DNA in the cytoplasm not the nucleus so it is easy to transfer between bacteria. Some bacteria already found in India have up to 9 ways to beat antibiotics. Part of the problems is not only people incorrectly taking the drugs and poor sanitary habits at hospitals, but how the drugs are made. One company making Cipro in India flushed so much of the powerful antibiotic into a local river that it could be mined from the riverbed. Better stay healthy folks, and away from doctors and hospitals as much as possible. Might as well as stay away from other people as well. http://www.bloomberg.com/news/2012-05-07/drug-defying-germs-from-india-speed-post-antibiotic-era.html
