One More Soul is working on a " Healthy Marriage Sexuality " curriculum as

part of a Federal Healthy Marriage Initiative Grant. Can anyone lead us

to resources that would cite the harms associated with IVF? What are the

negative side effects for the couple and children?

Thank you and may God bless you.

IVF question

This past week I had a call from a couple who had attended a marriage

preparation program in another state. They called to ask if what they

had been told was true as this engaged couple had not been active in

their faith in recent times. They asked if a child created through IVF

had a soul because the presenting teams of that program had told the

engaged couples that a child conceived through IVF would not have a

soul.

That is not something the Church teaches.

Well, menses started for real on day 23 of the cycle. My medical consultant thinks that I probably had a luteal cyst.

Strange cycle - help?

I am a Creighton Model FertilityCare System user/Practitioner. I am 43 years old, gravida 5, para 2, living 1, stillbirth (placental abruption) 1, spontaneous abortion 3. I am having a very strange cycle right now, with an extended luteal phase (today is day 22 after the Peak Day - ovulation), with very very light spotting intermittently on post-Peak days 14-19. I have had 6 negative pregnancy tests since the 15th day after the Peak Day. because my mucus has been limited, I have taken BBT to confirm my mucus observations, so I am confident of my Peak Day. In the past, when pregnant, I have always had a positive pregnancy test by 14 days past the Peak Day. I did use Clomid 100mg daily on cycle days 3-5, and (because I have been working swing shifts and was unable to keep up with the doses!) HCG (Novarel) 2000 units IM on Peak +7 only (should have been on Peak + 3,5,7, and 9). My post-peak/luteal phase length is usually about 14 - 15 days in length, although it has been variable and shortening in the last couple of years. I have been having unusual bleeding consisting of a day of spotting just before my Peak Day, and some premenstrual spotting. I also have a history of a chronic endometritis that was treated in the last year, with a follow-up endometrial biopsy showing the inflammation was resolved. My estradiol and progesterone levels are both rather low in the mid-luteal phase, thus the Clomid and HCG treatment.

I am not sure what is causing my extended luteal phase with negative pregnancy tests. The only possibilities that I know of are being pregnant even though the pregnancy tests are negative, or possibly a luteal cyst. Any thoughts?

Pam in El Paso.
