Hi all,

I was wondering if any one else's doctor discontinued chelation or will not

chelate until after the final protocol from the Dallas Conference in February

is in?

I have made several appointments with my son's doctor to begin chelation.

First he wanted to wait until after the meeting to start my son. (he has

already begun chelating others). Then, he wanted to wait for the protocol to

be signed by all members. Now, he received the protocol for review, made

some changes and sent it back. Now, we are waiting for it to come back

finalized.

He has also stopped chelating current patients pending the final protocol.

Has anyone else expereinced this?

Thanks.

Cheryl,

Our doctor hasn't said anything about waiting for the protocol but he has

been putting us off since Jan. on starting chelation. He has wanted to run

many tests and treat things like liver detox, sluggish thyroid, amino acid

imbalance and fatty acid imbalances first. It has been confusing since my

understanding is that many of the things he is testing and treating are

" off " because of the mercury toxicity. He even said that if we can get my

son stable with these other treatments there won't be any need for

chelation. Once again, I tend to disagree. I'm very happy with the

progress my son is making ( he is doing better, so something is working)

but I can't give him 40 pills a day for the rest of his life and continue

to monitor his diet as stricitly as I do forever. He is 9 and it gets

harder every day (he wants to " eat like everyone else " ). My impression is

that our doctor is backing away from chelation. He has mentioned law suits

that have been filed against other doctors for doing chelation for mercury.

I realize they are different issues but I wonder if others are seeing more

reticence also. I hope the publication of the protocol will help soothe

any fears or concerns and make it easier to proceed. Pat

You need a new doctor. This isn't appropriate behavior - even if

there was some hope the protocol would be helpful instead of harmful.

As someone who tried those treatments and tried to put out other fires for

years before chelating, I'd advise you to get another doctor. If he doesn't

understand that high metals lead to those imbalances, I'd be concerned that

he wouldn't understand how to treat properly. Just my 2 cents :).

Cheryl,

Where do you live? Who is your doctor? I cant even find a doctor that

believes in chelation and will try it? I guess the Dan Protocol wont be out

til the end of April now ....Hang in...

start looking for Doctors of Osteopathy or Chiropractors or Environmental

Allergists. The mainstream doctors are just going to give you a bad time.

Pat,

Thank you for your response. I know exactly what you mean - how can we

monitor their diets forever? My son is six now - so I am in control ( to a

point). But, what about later?

I can't post his name as it gets back to him. But, he is on the DAN list and

he is on the Committee.

You can contact the ARI for a list of doctors in your area. There are

several in this area - I live in NJ. Where do you live?

Darlin', you already know more than they do! This is

not such a bad thing-- you'll know what to tell them to do. I wish

these docs waiting on the protocol would cut it out. The stuff

published last fall is close enough to at least begin treatment.

What do they think, that knowledge from on high is about to be

revealed? I'll tell you, most of the docs making the protocol are

like half a step ahead of (or behind) all of us, and they're asking just

as many questions as we are!

He has not started chelation yet - waiting for the new protocol. This is

frustrating!
