Guest guest
Glad that you are doing very well! Our prayers were answered! Praise God! Update on my surgery I'm finally home from surgery as of yesterday evening. Surgery was Thursday morning from like 8am to 4pm, Recovery was from 4-6pm. It was a horrendous surgery because they had to remove several layers of scar tissue, which took about four hours. Then they found several internal organs not in their right places. The entire surgery took eight hours and there were two hours of recovery time before I finally made it to my room. Anesthesia was terrifying and I'm not sure why. Normally I see the operating table before they knock me out but they allegedly gave me a sedative in pre-op and I recall nothing after that until I got up in recovery. I had anticipated a much easier surgery but it is what it is. Now I'm home with a catheter and Foley back (I refer to this combination as just " Foley " ) and about seven prescriptions including one narcotic. I'm sure I'll be fine eventually. In order to get to where they needed to be in surgery, they had to pump me full of gas and after surgery they siphoned much of it out but not all, soooooooo we're talking belching and flatulence galore. How wonderful. LOL. Anyway I'll be home for several weeks to recover and I'm thrilled I'm home in time for FOOTBALL!!!! I wanted to add that my honey was a real trooper going from home to the hospital, trying to calm our cat who was damn near mourning me and then back to the hospital to keep me calm. I'm so appreciative and grateful for Leanne's strength which got me through. When they wanted me to walk, I didn't but seeing Leanne helped me determine that walking would help me get better so I did so grudgingly at first. Leanne slept overnight with me both nights and usually left in the morning to return the rental car and rent another one to get back to me. She was wonderful. Many people told me not to worry about her but I did. I don't know what I'd do if I lost her but that was never an issue. Now she's my nurse, changing the dressing from where a drainage tube was and determining which of the Foley bags to put on me (a big one is for when I'm sleeping or staying in one place and a smaller one is when I go for walks). She is also emptying the bag when necessary and making me drink more to allay the chance of a blood clot. She was and is magnificent!! I thank God I had her by my side through this. I'll try to post an update a day if possible. Thanks to all of your thoughts and prayers. BTW, I'm gonna try to get a DVD of the surgery. Anyone wanna see it?
