Guest guest
well ..... I don't think the affect everyone the same way but aspartame and my digestive system do not like each other at all. They affected my father the same way. So I avoid aspartame at all costs. (No it wasn't my brain that was affected although my brain got tired of directing emergency trips to the facilities.) > Hello Everyone, Looking back on the theory about how aspartame and MSG > causes an allergic brain reaction to us aspies. Guest guest
Dear Kathy, Thank you for your input it is quite interesting if i must say so myself . You're probably right it probably does affect different people in different ways. For me i chew gum that has aspartame in it and the least of my problems is an occasional headache nothing major just nothing that a couple motrin can't get rid of that or sleep. Aside from that i still avoid MSG and on a side note i hear that at one of our local mexican restraunts qdoba's my internist told me that just one of their burritos has almost 2,000 mg of sodium in it. But you can hardly taste the sodium when you're eating it. He makes me feel like a deer licking a salt block, lol. Oh well i guess that answers my question of how much salt i take in in a day, lol. But back on the main topic do you think it has something to do with how much dark matter we have in our brains? Because that can vary from person to person. I think what the scientists are saying is that the allergic reaction happens between the chemicals and the dark matter in our brains. But as i've said before i really don't feel a thing except minor occasional headaches. Once again i welcome your input and thank you for your reply. Signed, Greg By the way in other news my sister is currently living in Ireland with her husband and she is expecting a baby girl sometime this december my mom and grandma schmitz are just tickled pink over the idea. It turns out i'll end up being an uncle to this kid . > > Hello Everyone, Looking back on the theory about how aspartame and MSG > > causes an allergic brain reaction to us aspies. " While there is some evidence to show that people with autism are more likely to have some auto-immune disorders, including allergies, that is the limit of the credible research to date. I have yet to come across any studies which say that aspartane orr MSG affects Aspies any more than it affects non-Aspies. Your logic is correct Greg. Guest guest
Me too regarding upset stomach and aspartame. I know people (including my dad) that get migraines from aspartame. > > well ..... Guest guest
Sorry if this post gets duplicated, tried sending it before and the connection dropped out when I was hitting the send button, so trying again. Something else that occured to me (although I think I have said similar before) what is so bad about natural sugar? Fruit has natural sugar and we are constantly been told such is good for us, I really hope I do not see a day when they take fruit remove all the natural sugar and replace it with sweetners and aspartame. It is a nightmare enough trying to find soft drinks without sweetners in. Generally if the bottle/carton says 'no added sugar' it usually pretty certain that when I look at the ingredients, that yes instead of adding sugar they've pumped it full of sweetners. I do not particularly like the taste of sweetners (that and as I said before they upset my stomach) that generally in my opinion taste a lot sweeter than sugar. Also I do recall some programme on TV doing an experiment regarding diet drinks (obviously with lots of sweetners in), they got some rugby players and half of them drank soft drinks, the other half drank diet drinks, they did not tell the players who were getting the diet drinks and who got the regular drinks. They then allowed the rugby players (after they'd had their drinks) to eat as much as they liked from a buffet, but they had to write down everything they ate. The one's that drank the diet drinks ate more than the one's who had regular drinks. They reckoned the reason for this was if one drinks diet drinks they are very sweet, so the body thinks it is getting sugar and therefore is expecting a hit of energy, when it does not get the energy it was expecting it will look for it elsewhere, i.e, by consuming more. > > > > well ..... Guest guest
For me, I find that diet drinks taste very bitter. I cannot stand them, and so will not drink them for that reason. And yes, I did find I wanted to eat more whenever I had diet drinks.
