Mamta is a universal human emotion that is regarded very highly. 'Maa ki Mamta'

is the highest form of this emotion. This mamta takes shape even before the

birth of a child. We all know how concerned the expectant mothers are. The focus

of this concern is the child the mother is keen to have. She undergoes total

transformation when the child is born. Her infant becomes the centre of universe

for her. She loves to see her child cross the various milestones. Every small

thing the child does gives her immense pleasure. She has so many dreams which

she thinks would come true when the child grows up. She hopes for the best for

her child. Therefore, it is ridiculous to talk about mamta and infant deaths. A

mother can never entertain the thought of the death of an infant.

Nevertheless, there are a lot of people discussing Mamta and infant deaths. The

more aggressive ones even blame Mamta for these deaths. That Mamta is

responsible for killing infants is unimaginable. However, sometimes we have to

keep aside our subjectivity and look at the facts. And, the facts are there have

been deaths of 75 infants in the last 20 days. This figure is being is displayed

incessantly. If there are so many people talking about it, there must be some

truth in it. But you talk to Mamta about the infants who have died, leaving their

mothers with meaningless dreams, and she would start raving and ranting. Her

lack of social skills is well known. She screams more than she speaks.

Everyone is guessing what could have killed so many infants. I feel Mamta's

shrillness and surliness have killed them. There can be no bigger irony when

Mamta kills an infant.
