I hope you don't close the forums down, at least not without setting up a new on in more favorable settings.

The mad quest for revenue is going to break down at some point. That I think is one of the main failings of being a publicly traded company. These days, rather than being a stable company for the long haul, investors are looking to double their money in a couple of days. The market also shows its insanity by punishing an otherwise healthy company for one bad quarter, even if the company turns a profit just not as much as expected, while it pours money into other outfits that are questionable. The late 1990's stock crash came because investors gambled big on dotcom companies that actually produced nothing, had no plans, etc. They failed. At the same time, steady performers declined in price because investors were hooked on lotto fever from the heady days leading up to the bust. They did it again later and spread into mortgage instruments. They are still doing it now, mostly investing in companies that seem profitable only because they are shedding US workers and moving to China but remain listed at a US company.

My point being, they will certainly come a time when people get sick of those ads and stop using services, like using email instead of actually visiting the site. Besides that, some of us are little influenced by ads, particularly if you understand the tricks they use. I've only bought a few things based on ads and then because it was something I was already looking for anyway, or needed, like certain tools.

I find email to be more convenient, since I can have everything feed into one system on my computer and phone.

I second the notion regarding the forums.

However I've noticed today no more adverts in the actual posts :-) hope it stays

that way, does make me rather wonder if someone from Yahoo has been reading our

posts, or is that just me being paranoid?

I've tried the email way of receiving posts, I didn't like it - felt a bit

overwhelming. I personally prefer to log in and follow the posts. I think

perhaps I like to have things seperate on my PC, different areas for different

things I guess.
