Guest guest
Use a conditioning shampoo. Sleep on Satin pillow cases, they cut down on the friction on the hair. Use a soft brush to brush the hair. Instead of hot showers take a warm shower. Only brush hair to keep it neat. Don't brush hair too often. And if all of that fails, get a bunch of cute hats. I did, I have a bunch of cute and clever looking hats. I even found one with a ponytail. Hair loss to me wasn't a biggie, I just told people that I was doing a Shand O'Conner impression. I told that Bald was beautiful get used to it. LOL Hey I am glad I didn't get rid of my hats in case I get accepted to the clinical trial I enrolled for. Guest guest
I have not yet done treatment so I am not speaking from experience. My Dr told me to expect hair loss to start in the 3rd or 4th month, so perhaps you are doing good in that regard. I also was told that it is temporary and your hair will come back after Tx. Guest guest
Great advice Janet. Daryl has also been cursed with losing his hair. It's an awful thing because he's so careful with his appearance and to be losing his hair is just dreadful for him. It's bad enough when men unexpectantly begin to lose their hair, IMO it's even worse for women. Did you know that (for men anyway) most of the testosterone is produced by the liver and when the liver is sick the testosterone level plummets. One of the side effects is hair loss. Women have a small amount of natural testosterone too. I wonder if it might be worthwhile having all your hormone levels checked to see if that's causing hair loss. There may be something that your doctor can do to help. anne Re: Hair loss and treatment Use a conditioning shampoo. Sleep on Satin pillow cases, they cut down on the friction on the hair. Guest guest
Are we talking about significant hair loss, like you get in chemo for cancer? Yikes, I didn't know that! Guest guest
Nah, Nothing quite that bad. Actually is more like loosing hair in spots. I unfortunately lost mine in the front and right dab in the middle of the back of my hair. Then a general thinning all over. But don't let vanity stop you from doing treatment. I am one of the vainiest people I know. I take that back my oldest daughter is then I am next. But I approached the hair loss with " Oh Well, it is temporary. " And gave me a excuse to buy all kinds of cute hats, plus two wigs for dress up. Never really wore the wigs because most of my treatment was in the summer and they were hot,and itchy. But to cover the hair loss I wore all kinds of cute hats. One even has a pony tail on the back. My hubbie helped me make it. We went to the beauty supply got one of those cute pony tails and sewed it to the cap. Cute. Here is something funny, I had natural curly hair. And it came back in straight as a board.
