Guest guest
, wow that sounds aweful. I bet you're glad it's over. Would you go back and do it again? If that were me, I'd be typing a complaint letter now. The treatment you got is inexcusable in my opinion. Guest guest
, Wow I am so sorry to hear that you had to put up with such treatment. I think I would be calling the person in charge of patient " satisfaction " and letting them know what you had to go through. At least it is all over for now and hopefully things will settle down for you. God Bless,
Guest guest
So sorry to hear this has been such an ordeal, . I think many of these supposed " best hospitals " rest on their laurels.. that was my experience while in the hospital last spring anyway. I read the thyroidectomy scars usually heal pretty well. I hope you're feeling much better very soon.
Guest guest
- So glad you made it through the surgery! Sorry you had to go through so much trouble! I know EXACTLY how that can be. Same thing happened with my daughter. Her IV ran out & I was freaking out trying to call someone. When I finally got a nurse in there, she just said, "Oh yeah, you're right. It's empty." Like it was nothing! Anyway, so much for my complaining....I'm glad you're on your way to recovery! Take care, Miaja** Bella Luna ToysBringing Imagination Into Play!www.bellalunatoys.com -----Original Message----- Sent: Monday, February 03, 2003 5:53 PMTo: Thyroiditis Subject: hi everyoneWell, here I am. I made it thru. there are a few of you on here who have emailed me directly to see how I am doing--THANK you!! :)the surgery was 1/30, and they ended up taking about 95% of my thyroid. they took all the right side, and most of the left. The doctor referred to it as a multi nodular goiter. The surgery was 4 1/2 hours, instead of the 2 1/2 they originally thought.I was fine up until they put the IV in before I went in to the OR. the screwy nurse jacked up my IV and I had blood running down my arm. that threw me over the top. I tried to be positive and tell her, "Hey it happens to the best, right?" trying NOT to be p.o.'ed or freaking out. But then I freaked out. my doc. came at the time, and I started crying. The anesth. (sp) came and talked to me, he was pretty nice. He said they were going to give me the "margarita", which did help calm me a LITTLE.They then wheeled me in to the OR and I wasn't calmed ENOUGH, so they had to give me the "double". I don't remember closing my eyes even, which is nice. I woke up to absolute HELL. (excuse my french). I was in pain all over, especially my shoulders for some reason, PLUS I had CRAMPS! after all the trauma my body was under, I started my period. The nurse who was supposedly "caring for me" was complaining around me the whole time about how understaffed they were. I had trouble speaking and she didn't give a rat's (#@ about me, and I felt like I was dying. I had enough where with all, luckily, that I kept thinking "this will pass"...and I decided to sing church songs in my mind to myself trying to help me calm down. The two nights in the room were just as awful. No one bothered to really let me know how understaffed the hospital was. And this supposedly is the BEST hospital in this county! One dumb nurse person came into draw blood and DIDN'T even have GLOVES ON! she woke me up out of some what of a sleep and I wasn't able to call her on it. My IV ran out during the night and started beeping....and I called the nurse button, and NO ONE CAME! after 15 minutes....I finally started banging the call button thing on the side of the bed for some one to come and check on me. I was panicking all over the place, but I didnt' know what else to do.The surgeon came in Fri. night to check on me, and took the drains out of my neck. I told him, "so, it was pretty gnarly, eh?" and he agreed whole heartedly. I see him in one week. I've been on vicodin, but trying to use that just to sleep. Before I left on Sat. my surgeon's partner came in, who was in the OR during my surgery, and I told him, "You know....had I known it was going to be THIS bad, I would have chickened out and NOT done this"....but he told me that it was very good that I did do it now. being as complicated as it was NOW....just imagine HAD I waited....the scar goes from ear to ear and I have a numb chin. I can't sleep to save my life, because every position I sleep on my bed seems to aggrivate (sp) the pressure on the front of my neck. I can swallow pretty well enough, but the pressure and all the extra skin is very very weird.Well, i thought I'd write and say how it all went and how GLAD I am that it's NOT Thursday night right now!! :)thanks to all.--
Guest guest
Hi : If the antidepressant you're currently taking doesn't help with your insomnia, I'd like to tell you that the one I'm currently taking is called Remeron. I don't think it's done anything for me EXCEPT help me sleep all night as that is one of it's side effects. I can tell you that I sleep a full 8 hours or more every single night and has been instrumental in helping with the brain fog since I get quality restorative sleep every night! I will warn you though it's also used off label as an appetite stimulant for those that need to gain weight, which I surely don't but have found that if I take it and go right to sleep, I sleep through the munchies associated with it. If I stay awake too long, I get the munchies really bad and especially for chocolate. I still have my moments of brain fog though and seems like it's been up there pretty good this last week. Was having the hardest time thinking of the right words to say when composing letters at work and would have to ask for help but since my supervisor has fibromyalgia too, she understands my frustration and my brain fog problem because that is another symptom of fibro. Hope you feel better soon and let me tell you that I still have to make lists and hope I don't forget them LOL. I will send emails back and forth from work and home to remind me to do things during the day while I'm at work, or for when I get home...it works for me. Guest guest
Hi Debbie, I am really afraid of gaining anymore weight, so I have been staying away from any meds that have that as even the remotest side affect. Currently I am on wellbuertin in the morn and lexapro at nite.. My brain fog has been still kicking in, I was in a meeting with other teachers to set up my art program with their students and could not remember the simplest terms. I sounded like a complete idiot.. HOW EMBARRASSING!!!!!!!!!!! Well anyways, I hope today is finding you well... Sincerely, Kim > > Hi everyone, I hope everyone is feeling well tonite. > > I have not written in awhile.. the symptons for me > > have increased and it has been a struggle. Guest guest
Hi you are not alone with your brain fog and moodiness. I am experiencing the same thing and my companion and friends are going crazy. I guess we just have to bear with it, be patients with ourselves and hope the right dosage of pills will help us out.. I use 's trick too to remember my pill. Only I'm too dizzy in the morning to remember to turn the bottle upside down, so what I do is before going to bed I take out the pill from the blister and place it on my bedside table, along with a glass of water. Then I take it early in the morning, my eyes half closed, still not functioning. If the pill is not there later, I know I've taken it... Take care all Carla/Heit Lunedì, 1 set 2003, alle 05:02 Europe/Rome, ha scritto: >   > > >         I am just wondering how everyones plight with >         the thyroid fog and the memory battle is going. >         Also does anyone have extreme moodiness????? >         My fiancee says that I have been extremely >         moody lately, I myself have not noticed. >         I starred to try to combat the memory thing. >         At the dollar store in my town, I found a pill >         box that has a holder with individual little boxes >         for each day, with compartments for breakfast, lunch >         dinner and bedtime. Guest guest
I mix it into a glass of OJ because vitamin C helps iron absorption. So i can't really taste it but some people say it is a bit metallic. From: Sent: Tuesday, 20 March 2012 4:43 PMTo: SydBand Subject: Re: Hi Everyone Hi Debra, what does the liquid iron taste like? Guest guest
Hi Dorothey, My dietician works out of my specialist's rooms and she recommend'd a liquid and it is called "Accomin Vitamin Supplement with Iron" it's a 200ml bottle and adults take 10ml a day and it has a nice cherry flavour and cost about $10 and you can buy at the chemist or the chemist warehouse, but you still need a multi vitamin. I also take a calcium that is chewable called "Calcia" 1000mg + vitamin D and cost about $12 - $14 dollars and I also get it at the chemist warehouse or my chemist will order it in for me. Hope this helps. To: SydBand Sent: Monday, 19 March 2012 8:09 AM Subject: Hi Everyone Hi Folks, Hope life is good for you all in Bandland.
