Has anybody run Bioexplorer using either of these two programs? How about the DVD ploayer, that's always a test?Or, if on new Intel-based Mac, without rebooting you can run Windows XP in a virtual machine using products from: VMware Fusion (free beta) http://www.vmware.com/products/beta/fusion// or Parallels Workstation ($50 USD)  http://www.parallels.com/ Happy New Year! Bill CallFrom: braintrainer [mailto:braintrainer ] On Behalf Of Sent: Wednesday, December 27, 2006 10:20 PMTo: braintrainer Subject: Re: macintosh,It is possible on the new Intel Macs if you use Apple's boot camp which allows you to boot directly into Windows XP.The emulation software on the old Power PC Macs is just too slow.> Hello all,>> Please excuse me because somewhere this question has already been > asked but I do not have> the answer.>> Can you use a Mac with a pendant and Bio Ex to train neurofeedback?>> Thanks in advance,> >> PS--Happy Holidays!>>>>>

Parallels and VMware fusion are still technically in Beta with VM being

free right now and Parallels having a modest cost.

Parallels, from what I have heard from other users, still has trouble

with recognizing some drivers and does not yet support 3d video. So I

suspect it would struggle with BE.

If you are interested in running BE on an Intel Mac, Apple's boot camp

is probably your best bet. It does not allow you to switch between OS

like parallels does, You have to boot directly into windows but it

runs flawlessly, Tom Collura is running the BMr software on a MacBook

that way and has great things to say about it,

The reviews I have seen that would be most likely to shed light on this

are the reviews done by/for gamers. They report the Virtualization

software is not up to the task of gaming, but that boot camp is a fine

solution, I heard from on fellow on the BE list who was able to

install BE and run it just fine under bootcamp.

This is all a bit premature for me since I havn'et actually purchased an Intel/Mac but it give me more ammunition to use on my wife!Happy New YearVMware sees a DVD if present. Not certain about Parallels.  Most likely. In my experience, multi-media is not as "satisfying" when viewed in a virtual machine.  This is a rather intense workload.  Using an ISO image of a DVD instead of a physical hardware may help. If DVD viewing is required, then boot camp may be the better choice even if less convenient than a virtual machine. BillFrom: braintrainer [mailto:braintrainer ] On Behalf Of GoldringSent: Friday, December 29, 2006 7:06 AMTo: braintrainer Subject: Re: macintoshHas anybody run Bioexplorer using either of these two programs? Thanks for all the input...and here's my next question.

Will the 17 " MacBook Pro Notebook with 2.16 GHz Core Duo T2600, 1 GB DDR2, 120

GB

be enough to handle my needs? (That runs about $1600 vs $2500 for the 2.33 GHz,

2 GB,

160 GB version). Will be ordering this in the coming week and want to be sure I

am getting

the right model. Can't tell you how happy I am to be able to stay with the Mac.

Bonny,

The 2.16 should be fine, It has enough processor power and video ram

(128 MB) to do the job. PCs with less power do just fine with BE.

Perhaps can let you know what his setup is.
