Nan~

Where are you located? There are NF support groups growing around the country or others who are trying to start one. Perhaps we can help you find someone local.

BioExplorer and NF "buddy"

Hi,I'm considering purchasing the pendant/software for self/home training and have a few questions.1) Does BioExplorer use games for the visual training, or just graphs/EEG waves? I've read some software is like the old PacMan video game.2) Would anyone who does NF regularly for themselves be interested in being a self-training buddy? My depression issues can get in the way of motivation. Sometimes having to check in with someone else can be helpful. I belong to a Forum for other people who've had/have my physical problems, and it's been great.Just wondering.Nan

Hi Nan,

I'm new to this too, but thought I'd attempt a helpful reply. There are a few games out for BioExplorer, and thankfully it comes with DVD, video and audio file playing capabilities, so you don't have watch bar and line graphs.

I feel a bunch of us would benefit having someone to work with. There are also some home trainer groups, but none in my area so I started working on a small website for home trainers to use to help us find buddies for support and whatnot. The site isn't finished and the map only has a smidgen of people so far, but check it out and see if there's anyone near you: http://www.braintrainers.org It will also have a wiki, forums, some training stuff, links, and whatever else anyone thinks might be useful. Let me know if you'd like to be added to the map!

There is a learning curve, but there is also great support from the community (especially this really kind and excellent group) to help you along the way. In January will be taking the

TLC workshops (they come highly recommended for home and clinical trainers alike) and attending the Winter Brain conference to hopefully really get off the ground. There is also a few highly recommended services out there that can provide you with remote support, direction and I'm sure a good amount of cheering and encouragement.

I enjoyed reading Symphony in the Brain and found it a nice non-technical introduction to Neurofeedback. Getting Started with Neurofeedback is a good book to read and really start learning. Nothing seems to beat hands-on experience, so attending a workshop if you can should be something to definitely consider.

Anyways, I hope this helps a little and you find your answers!

Regards,

-Carl
