Guest guest
Hi, this is my first post to this group. I'm a 49 yr old lady with hep-c. I've been asymptomatic all along, but have recently been experiencing such fatigue that I can't help but think it might be a symptom of the virus. I do have an appointment with my dr., but not until late october. I have paid little attention to the hepatitis, working on some very difficult but ultimately rewarding other issues that I had to give priority to. Anyway, so now I want to try to take the best care of myself that I can, in hopes that I can keep the thing at bay. Do people do that? I subscribed to this group thinking that I might benefit from others' experience with hep-c, and might get candid information from some of the folks on this site. I feel as though the drs are somehow not telling me straight at times, like I ask, what might my expectations be? and I get, " Well, some people remain asymtomatic throughout their lives. " This feels inadequate, so I see it's up to me to take control. Well, I don't know quite where to start. Any ideas? I did have a liver biopsy a year ago, and I have the sub-type that is more common, the one that is more resistant. I believe he said that my liver looked pretty good, a bit enlarged, nothing else. I probably contracted this from a transfusion in 1961. But is it possible it could be that long ago? I've been in alot of denial about it all, so I've been a little irresponsible about getting info, etc. I live in Boulder, CO, married 24 yrs, quit my job and am in graduate program in psychology. Pretty happy, just bad achy legs, and want to take a nap by noon! Look forward to hearing from people. thanks. Guest guest
Welcome! There has been some discussion here that many herbs might indeed affect mucus, temperature, post-ovualatory phase length and other aspects of the cycle in general. Some examples are wild yam, dong quai, chaste tree berry and black cohosh, among others. Some here have personal and/or patient experience that shows changes in charting which might be attributed to herbal use. It is often suggested that a patient wishing to diagnose infertility problems (perhaps a Creighton Model user) not take ANY type of supplements to achieve accurate charting and diagnosis. It has also been theorized here that herbal supplements can have a negative affect if the wrong types are taken at the wrong times. For example, an estrogenic supplement like black cohosh could shorten or weaken the post-ovulatory phase if taken during this time; or wild yam could decrease mucus or delay ovulation during the pre-ovulatory phase. Kim new to group Hello, My name is Sharalyn Paetz. I am a health nut of sorts. I work with a midwife sharing my knowledge with clients about herbs, essential oils, reflexology and such. I am studying to be a NFP teacher through CCLI. I am also a lay counselor for breastfeeding. I am excited to network with others who have similar interests. Right off the bat, I have a question. Does anyone know of any herbs that might be taken that could effect cervical mucus? Example: Would taking Wild Yam in a certain quantity increase or decrease cervical mucus? Does it effect temperature readings? Thanks in advance for your help. Sharalyn Paetz
