Guest guest
My ADHD child has recently had a q done which showed excess slow wave activity. Prior to this and virtually every night for about 3-4 weeks he had been listening to a sound therapy CD with binaural beats.Unfortunately in our desperation to address his behaviour and attention issues I forgot about this at the time. I'm now worried that the specific treatment protocol based upon this Q might be invalid and wonder whether or not it would be better to repeat the Q after a time away from the CD.Any suggestions appreciated. Guest guest
Is it Carla ? Not sure what the binaural beats were targeting ... sleep ? .... attention ???? etc. but Based on your post (when you said my ADHD child), and the that binaural beats usually only lead the brain into a state (not actually train the brain to that state). I'd say the Q was valid. I suppose if you listen to binaural for some amazing amount of time that it might have a lasting effect, but I believe (at least at the Monroe Institute outside Charlottesville), they are meant to create an experience, and do not actually train the brain as NFB would. Excessive slow wave activity could be considered very "typical" (if there is a typical brain) of ADHD. Certainly a good NFB trainer would take all your information into consideration before developing a training plan.
