Joy DeFelice has done extensive research on this phenomenon and found

that some women are extremely sensitive to sleep time light effect on

fertility cycles. Her 26 page 8 1/2 x 11 book 'The Effects of Light on

the Menstrual Cycle: Also Infertility, Clinical Observations' is very

interesting. You can get it from One More

In tribal societies, where women live communally and in the absence of

artificial light, women tend to ovulate at the full moon and bleed at

the new moon. Hence the " myth " of the 28 day cycle. It's only a myth

because of industrialization and the rise of the nuclear family. Our

bodies are wired to the moon and the sun (circadian rhythm being

another example). It's rare for modern women to cycle with the moon,

but it's not impossible, especially in a rural setting. It could also

be a coincidence. Incidentally, you can help women change their cycles

using manipulations of light & dark in the bedroom. For more info, see

Singer's book, The Garden Of Fertility. The effect of light on

cycles was first explored in Lunaception, by Louise Lacey, and Joy

DeFelice wrote a booklet about it, on which I don't see a date. Light

in the bedroom is a factor which should be considered when a women

presents with cycle irregularities.
