Guest guest
That's interesting. I just read a book about agriculture and the food supply system in the South during the Civil War. One thing I learned was that the South was in the middle of a major drought that alone caused food production to drop as much as 70% for some crops. This contributed to the near famine that afflicted the South. The US is facing a severe drought in parts of the country and lesser ones elsewhere. Crops are going to be badly hit and food prices will rise over time. Government will likely do what it always does and make things much worse such as through price controls and trying to ship food supply where it wants instead of where the market dictates. If a big volcano like Tambora or any of the other really big ones goes off, that would make the whole situation worse. In a message dated 9/20/2011 11:11:06 A.M.
