Guest guest
Yes, on a smaller scale than a book.Years ago, an article which I wrote: "Diversity in the Home Landscape," was published in the Canadian Organic Growers magazine, For a few years, I was part of a team of Book Reviewers for the local daily newspaper.A couple of summers ago, I wrote a few articles for the front page of the weekly newspaper that I work for; our regular feature writer was away, and our managers know I enjoy reading and writing. Some topics were assigned, basewd on upcoming events: local Heritage Days Celebrations; writing that article involved interviewing the Chairman of our City's Ethnic Association.Others topics were left up to me: things to do locally (low cost or free), little known features of our city: what someone might see walking through the various neighborhoods; two houses with Mansard Roofs; public walkways between neighborhoods, some of the unusual trees that were planted here: a Black Walnut planted in 1936 that is still alive)Our city is quite young, it was developed in th late 1800's early 1900's, so it's history is brief, but there is more to see and do than many folks realize) My co-workers often ask me to 'proof read' adds, articles, etc. before the newspaper is sent to print. Interesting question, , I look forward to reading others answers; hope to read your book.rl'My cat Rusty is a servant of the Living God....'adapted from a poem by SmartFrom: environmental1st2003 <no_reply >To: FAMSecretSociety Sent: Wednesday, September 7, 2011 11:47:36 PMSubject: Just out of curiosity... Guest guest
Thanks for sharing. I am always interested in knowing if anyone has gotten published. One of my little interests. Guest guest
I've had a few things published small scale. A few letters to the editor to local newspapers and some years back a letter to Popular Science about one of their articles. In the college literary magazine I had several short stories published. I also sent out some other stories to other magazines but the problem there was that some had switched over to a stable of "house" writers instead of taking public submissions while a few others were jammed up with accepted works mostly from professional writers using pen names to hide who they really were. My earliest submission was in 6th or 7th grade but the teacher sent the story to a children's magazine when it wasn't a children's story and it was declined. I asked her to send it to other magazines, but that didn't happen. In a message dated 9/8/2011 1:55:57 P.M. Eastern Daylight Time, no_reply writes: Thanks for sharing. Guest guest
Did you get contributor's copies from your college magazine? Just curious about that. It's always cool to have published stuff sitting around the house. Administrator I've had a few things published small scale.
