Hi and All,

I'm not familiar with Jordapon Prill Surfactant....do you know who

manufactures this product? I only know about Finetex and couldn't find much

from a search. It is my understanding that the toxicology data is very good

on this chemical, but I haven't seen it with my own eyes, just heard it from

the manufacturer. Alot of the concentrates that are readily available and

low cost are not particularly desirable in my opinion. I would much rather

put something together myself that I feel good about using and enjoy

using....but that's what makes the world an interesting place, everyone likes

different things.

I've seen and heard about DEA and MEA for some time. I've also heard all

about SLS, SLES and everything in between. There are also some concerns

around hydrolyzed proteins and soy. Folks keep getting confused about

whether you should eat them, rub them on your body, or both or

neither....only kidding, but really what I am trying to say is that there is

potentially alot to be afraid of out there in this big world/universe. We

could live our lives being afraid of virtually everything. As I have gotten

older, my perspective has changed.....and I am a person that worked in health

education for over 20 years (just retired from that, yay!!) I eat pretty

well, exercise regularly, don't smoke, keep my intake of fats down, eat my

organically grown veggies, in other words do things that I know should be of

benefit to my health. I do however, ride in cars, have family history of

cancer(s), am a workaholic/worrier, and probably sit too much at this darn

computer! I haven't seen morbidity and mortality data in a while and really

don't want to look, but the chances of getting cancer from using a shampoo

with cocamide DEA are probably alot less than death or injury from riding in

a car. I think we should do the best we can and try to not worry about the

rest ;) Goodness knows, all we have to do is turn on CNN if we want to have

something to worry about! Life is short and I don't want to waste it with

worrying...even though I do still worry. Now, I do choose to avoid chemicals

that have toxicology data that doesn't look good---like the DEA. Even though

the cancer rumors about SLS, SLES are not substantiated, these are harsh

surfactants and are known irritants. I see no need to use ALS, SLS, SLES

just because they are inexpensive and I do choose to use other

surfactants.....because I can. I choose to avoid DEA, MEA......because I

can. But I have a deck made with the treated lumber :( and wonder/worry

about that risk? I also am trying to become less of a workaholic/worrier,

but that's harder ;)

, I'm not really directing this to you, but health risk/behaviors was my

business for a long time and I just wanted to get back on my soapbox for a

few minutes :) Some food for thought though.

Have a nice evening.

Angie
