Guest guest
Any M.E. sufferer who enjoys Christmas and can cope with it need read no further. This is for the vast majority, for whom Christmas is probably one of the worst times imaginable. My plans for a letter to the press project have been hampered by my own personal circumstances: I have had dreadful flu-like symptoms - sweating, teeth chattering, aches in every place you can name - all weekend and have slept much of it, despite having had a flu jab a couple of weeks ago (no I don't think that caused it). Of course, I don't know for sure what it is but it seems like flu, whichever swine it came from. In addition, my cousin, who has been trekking on foot 2 hours each day through the worst snow in the North East of England to look after his 85-year-old mum, has broken his ankle in three places and is in hospital and just for good measure, has a heart problem that needs monitoring as well. I haven't finished yet! My sister, who usually holds us altogether, is ill with (I don't know, maybe, Norwalk winter vomiting virus or some kind of flu) as is her daughter and grandson - the whole lot of us! And a happy Christmas to you too! Now, what I don't need is for anyone to write to me and tell me that I must rest because I won't be any good to anyone. Christmas is going to happen and I know that there are people worse off than I am. Please don't write to me to tell me that you would love to but that are not able to help. or that you wish me well very soon. or send me warm, gentle hugs or a f**king pizza or Farmville product. I already have far more correspondence than I can cope with. If you really do want to help, watch out for some plans I already had in mind for the biggest virtual Christmas party. I do have a couple of faithful volunteers who will get messages out in my name. That's when I will need some help. Remember, those are the only people I will want to hear from not any of the above. Now, I have said it several times but I will lay serious money that someone will send me an e-mail saying: " I know you said not to, but ..... Well, don't. If you really want to help people who have M.E. let's get this message out there and look after each other until they get it. Have a cool Yule.
