This is Aletha in California also. My husband has done very well on LDN. He also suffered from depression and Paxil did not work for him, even when he was doing so well with LDN. I guess that either, once your in the depression mode it is hard to get out of it, or it was a physical symptom from the MS itself. He had never suffered from depression before starting LDN symptoms. Back in February my husband started taking DL-Phenylalanine. His depression disappeared right away and has not returned. He also had even more energy.

If you would like me to, I can send you an informal LDN beginner information packet that includes Dr. ce's protocols for LDN and MS, and a list of LDN links.

Hello everyone

My name is Nola. I just got my neurologist to fax in a script for LDn, after reading about it and thinking and then getting a pharmacy to fax him some info. I am so excited that he will let me try this. I have some odd type of MS.THe lumbar pucture and MRIs all showed nothing but I have typical MS symptoms and signs and am progressing very fast. I am 49. Symptoms first started about 5 years ago. I am now using a walker but even that is getting too difficult and my doctor has told me that now is the time for a scooter. I can't believe how fast my life changed for the worse.

Anyway I am not on CRAB drugs but have been on prednisone since last December.It made me gain 50 lbs and Im so miserable. I am slowI y tapering of them now .I also am on Paxil. I read that the LDN can have an antidepressant effect- if so I want to get off the paxil too! I am trying to not get too high hopes as I know this LDN doesnt do everything for everyone and some people have had no success at all. But deep inside Iam so excited to be able to jstu TRY something, just to have a chane at maybe getting better.

My question is ..since the LDN affects the immune system should i wait till I've finished tapering off the steroids before I start the LDN or is it ok to jsut start as soon as I get theLDN? You know that steroids depress the immune system somewhat.

I dont know what to do.

What do you think?

Nola,

Go ahead and start the LDN even though you are steroid tapering. Also make

positive your compounding pharmacy DOES NOT use any Calcium Carbonate as a

filler in your capsules. There have been several of us who have found that CC

at times can cause the LDN to release slow and LDN MUST be fast release. Have

your pharmacy use either of these fillers...Acidophilus, Lactose, Gelatin,

Avicel(cellulose).

Hi ! Thanks for answering this. When I called the pharmacy they asked me if I am lactose intolerant.( I/m not) so I think it's lactose they are putting in it.ITs from IRMAT pharmacy in NY. Ok, I ;ll start as soon as it arrives in the mail. I am glad, as I really didn;t like to think I might have to wait!

I think the depression I am having is probably part of the MS s I was always ok before the MS started.

Hi Nola .. I agree with . Also remember that although on paper

LDN and steroids work against each other, Dr Bihari has found that in

practice they actually work well together especially during a

relapse. Noel tried steroids when on LDN and Dr Bihari told him to

stay on the LDN for the duration ... so if I were you I would go for

it.

The best times are first thing in the morning bedore you eat anything

(500mg), then in the afternoon before you eat anything. It is not good to

take when you have high blood pressure or cancer. Otherwise it should be

fine. It has done wonders for my husband.
