Guest guest
I'm curious why your first doctor recommended vaccination against hepatitis B and didn't recommend vaccination against hepatitis A. I am not a doctor, however, it doesn't hurt to get vaccinated. Again, I am not a doctor, but I wouldn't get vaccinated because I would want the attention of my immune system focused on the hepatitis C. The question you should be asking your doctors is if you had hepatitis A then you should have antibodies against hepatitis A therefore you shouldn't need vaccination against hepatitis A. There's an analogous question for hepatitis B. Doug > Hi group.I trust the answers here more than the doctors so here i go. > Im 48. Diagnosed with hep c in Sept.2003. Guest guest
Mike, I don't have any studies to site or anything like that but Daryl's Dr's have told us that it's important to be immunised against Hep B. Mostly because the body is so run down fighting Hep C, it's more about protecting an already weakened immune system than anything else, I think. If I was in your shoes, I think I'd have the last injection and be done with it. anne hep b vaccination??? Hi group.I trust the answers here more than the doctors so here i go. Im 48. Diagnosed with hep c in Sept.2003. Been on treatment, Peg- intron combo since late Nov. Anyway i had hep A when i was 16 and hep b when i was 18. (yes, i think that was when i got hep c, long time ago, bad times). My first Dr. for hep c wanted me to get vaccination for hep B.Had the first two shots then got rid of first DR. Now my new Dr. says i dont need hep B vac.My primary called wondering why i havent been in for last hep b shot. I told her what new Dr. said and she thinks he's wrong.I have learned these Dr.s all treat this differently. ( Is that why they say their practicing medicine?) Any info would be most appreiciated. Guest guest
The Public Health Dept. in Ontario Canada and my gastrologist both suggested I get a hep A and Hep B vaccination. Youve allready gotten two I think it would be silly not to get the third. Good luck and God Bless Alan --- anne wrote: > Mike, > > I don't have any studies to site or anything like > that but Daryl's Dr's have told us that it's > important to be immunised against Hep B. Guest guest
Hi, I'm a lurker here, but I also have hep c. I was told that since I had hep b sometime in the past, I didn't need a hep b vaccination. Once you have it and clear it, you have antibodies to it and cannot get it again. Hep a is another matter. I found out a year and a half ago that I have hep c and probably have had it for 30 years. My biopsy thankfully showed minimal damage so I chose not to have any treatment right now. I eat whole foods and take a lot of vitamins and milk thistle. I'm waiting on the protease inhibitors or something better along the road. Good luck to you.
